Great price for a great Gretsch. If it wasn't for the ugly "me too" sunburst finish (like 55 million other boring guitars), I'd be all over this.

Agreed 100%. The $300 price point on these is something I occasionally see on the used market, so new is obviously really good.

Is this as thick as a jazz hollow body or is it more thin like the Rat Rods?

maybe not on sale atm.. but the gretsch mid range pricepoint has a lot of colors and they all look pretty good. only one I would pass up is a tobacco sunbursts type, just like ya said! Peace

This is not a full hollow body. The profile is similar to a 335. I have this guitar. It's a lot of guitar for the money.

The center block models are 1.75, a similar depth to a 335. The Rat Rod is 2.5 and the 5420 is 2.75.

Maybe just the one I got, but the Stirling Green is more gray than green (my pics are posted in the reviews). Not bad, but just really not green if that's what you're looking for.

Reviews on adorama have said it's more black than it looks on the picture so I think that's probably the right take.

I think that review was for the Torino Green finish, which is advertised as being a more pure/emerald green color. I've seen other pictures of that color, and never thought it was as dark as that one review indicated. Based on that review and my own experience, I feel that these Gretsch models might have some quality control issues with their finish colors. It could be a reason that Adorama is able to keep selling them at these discounted prices- they might be getting some "not quite" b-stock inventory from Fender at a discounted price and then can offer these sales and still be profitable. Just a theory on my part, and I'm happy with my purchase, but something to be aware of.

If you're okay with the non-Bigsby edition, Musicians Friend should get you cheaper than this price point with their LABOR coupon. Was wanting to avoid Adorama with some customer service issues I've heard horror stories about, so I started looking around other places. Hope this helps someone!

And if you like the Bigsby edition, this coupon will get you within $30 of the Adorama price. For me, that was a small price to pay for a better customer service experience -- should I experience one. I know plenty of folks are fine with Adorama. As they say, YMMV. 🤷 ♂️

This is an awesome guitar. I bought this from Adorama about 6 months ago and its flawless. Neck is straight and comfortable, tuners hold their position well, and after upgrading my bigsby spring (look up bigsby soft spring on google) it stays in tune pretty well relative to other bigsbys Ive played. my other main guitar is a PRS custom, and I play them both about equal since they have such different tone and feel. Also, I have this color-- mine is dark brown, and definitely doesn't appear black like others are saying. Overall this is an excellent deal, and Ive bought a few things from Adorama without issures.
