Most wireless camera won't do continuously recording because it will kill the battery at no time.

Recommend reading the most recent/critical app reviews on the Apple App Store and latest reviews on Amazon before purchasing. I bought but ended up returning.

On a different note ... has anyone figured out if you can trigger a Google event when these detect motion to say turn on a remote light?

This cameras are useless... I had them and captured 0 events in a month. Customer service it's ok, but they never where able to resolve the issue. Save time and money since it's 100% guaranteed that you will return them.

Any real user review?
I like mine. They're not as sensitive as another couple of cheap cameras I have and aren't triggered nearly as many times a day, but that's actually good for me because I can usually count on these cameras to pick up just human activity nearby while the others often get so many false alerts like shadows that flicker in sunlight, etc. So these are a good first alert and then I can look at the same timeframe on my other cams to see what else may have been going on around that time if needed. I'll hardly ever see alerts on these except when a person actually comes within close proximity (and I have the "human detection" feature turned off to hopefully capture as much activity as possible).

However, from what I've seen, these are pretty much only triggered by a substantial IR heat source (like a person). It seems to me like the cameras are basically in standby mode and not even registering visual activity until that happens. So an animal walking by at a distance or something like a tree falling, etc are unlikely to trigger it. I noticed during testing that one of my cameras tipped over at one point (unharmed) and it didn't record, even though the picture obviously changed completely. On the upside, that appears to result in pretty remarkable battery life. I've had mine going for over a month and they both still show over half charge and I haven't plugged them in at all since I placed them. They're on the front porch where they pretty much only trigger when a person walks in and out.

Also note that they may not work well if placed behind glass from the actual viewing area. I had one a foot or two behind my glass porch door looking out at one point and it didn't trigger despite a delivery person coming right up to the other side of the door completely in its view. Again, I'm thinking that's probably due to the glass obscuring the IR trigger mechanism. I put that one on the other side of the door and now it works much better.

In my opinion, these would be a great complement to an existing wired system for areas where wiring isn't really feasible. For instance, these could be placed in a tree (maybe in a little fake bird house) to watch over a shed out back or a mailbox, cars, etc. You'd want to disguise or secure them as well as possible, but they're cheap enough that it's not a huge loss if one gets stolen or broken. Also, you still have the footage even if they disappear (even without cloud storage enabled) because the SD card is in the base unit.

Also good for renters who just want something quick and easy to install without wiring for keeping an eye on who comes and goes, etc.

I bought my first set at $79 on sale and liked them so much that I bought two more when it hit that price again (plus gave one to my son). I'm tempted to pick one up as a backup at this price.

For me all of the detection/notification is working just fine. I get a clear picture and long battery life (unless the camera is placed in a high traffic area). I had one arrive with the threads stripped on the mount, and customer service sent me a new one (+ an additional camera for my trouble!). For continuous monitoring I agree with the wired comments, but this is great for the simple setup.

Only negative that I'd call out is that they don't seem to work with the web interface (even though I was told that they did). You have to use the app to view/playback any videos.

I just checked and the deal was still live for me.
Same experience here, also bought additional set at higher price, very happy with them, for couple low traffic cameras I haven't recharged for more than a year. It's security camera, not surveillance system.

After back and forth with their support, they sent another camera to test. It didn't alert on motion (without the PIR set to ON) just like the others. After that they stopped responding altogether....

I wonder if including the PIR "off" setting for this particular camera model may have been a mistake and maybe that shouldn't even be an option (due to battery conservation reasons). Like I mentioned before, I get the impression that is the only way the thing is triggered and I set mine to "high" after noticing it didn't seem very sensitive to trigger otherwise. Also, the camera tipped over and it still didn't record which makes me think it's strictly looking for the IR trigger rather than changes to the image.

And the LaView instructions only mention low, med, and high PIR settings for this model …

"Tap 'PIR' to adjust PIR sensitivity to 'Low' 'Medium' and 'High' level to achieve better battery life performance."

Suspect you are right in some fashion. No detection without PIR on, and have noticed zero difference in PIR level (low/med/high). Further, there is a delay on alerts, and it tends to miss the first seconds of capture.
The new app update this past week basically burries the local storage playback button. They are blowing these out to push their cloud storage fee(s)...

Ugh, I'll make sure to avoid updates as long as I can. And yeah, I've noticed that it can miss the first second or two of capture also (again I'm guessing it's because the camera takes a second to turn on once the PIR triggers it). Luckily, mine is set about 15 feet inside my front walkway and pointing out, so it generally pops on with plenty of time as someone walks toward the door. Out of curiosity, have you tried using it with PIR off while plugged in to power? I wonder if perhaps that might be a mode reserved for when it has constant power and maybe keeps the camera on continuously (monitoring for motion, not recording). I doubt that's the case, but just thinking of some possibilities.

They are 100000% worse. They don't record or detect a single event. Eufy cams software is way better.
Thanks for that feedback. I wonder if there's a way to flash the Eufy firmware over to these then.

I bought another set as the first set works relatively well. Note first time setup, nothing triggers recording. I have to delete the app and re-install and it works. Hope it helps.

I managed to enable the web interface mode on my browser (it was tricky). It lists the 2 cameras but no video feed. bummer. thanks for posting, as I thought mine was a defect.
