Tennis deal is always welcome
Just because strings don't break doesn't mean you can keep playing with them. Poly goes dead way before it breaks. If the balls are sailing long or you lost control, that would be a good time to cut them out and put on fresh string. Playing with dead string also leads to elbow issues.

well, yes of course...otherwise you can damage the frame and the tension will be way off.
no, you can't damage a frame restringing just the mains or crosses.

you literally finish stringing the mains first before even starting the crosses in 99.9% of racquets, and you still think that cutting out just the crosses and replacing them will damage the frame?

I use poly on main, multi on cross. The poly main already last 1.5 years, I only restring cross about every month.
Guaranteed, your poly string has gone dead. Even the best poly goes dead at MOST after 20 hours of court time. The advantage of poly over syn gut, etc., is the "snap back" that allows more spin. The snap back inherently dies after play. The string may not break, but it no longer has the snap back and has even less feel than the cheapest nylon.

I am not a pro stringer, but do it for myself and friends for fun. If you don't want to restring often, and don't want to play with gut, Put a good thin (18 gauge) synthetic gut in and play till it breaks.

$0.02 from a guy who has been playing for decades

Nope and nope. You shouldn't even be near a stringing machine if you think you could damage frame doing that or can't get the tension right. It's just best practice playability wise. Personally I don't recommend it (even though I string my own rackets) but there is no problem - it might actually make sense if you string your own rackets and restring them frequently anyways.

I use RPM Blast. Does anyone know how this compares? I heard it's advertised as softer and yet it feels stiffer. I don't care for the pink color. Is that all they have? thanks
I have used both. I prefer team as it lasts longe and is softer..

Not that bad. I always replace cross only, no issue. Of course, fix the racket on stringing machine first and then cut cross. I replace my multi cross almost every month.
And I use Gamma Sports Racquet String Tension Tester to compare the tensions, no much difference. I'm about 4.0 level and play ~3 hours/week. BTW I stringing by myself, with GAMMA 602FC and WISE 2086 Electronic Tension Head.
May not work for you, but try it first and then tell by yourself.
in my 30 years of playing tennis...i have never heard this before. I used to string my own rackets as well in hybrid and never heard to only replace one or the other.

You can't replace main only.

some confusion here, i was referring to the OP only wanting to restring the string that broke, one of the mains. that would mean tying off on a grommet that is not meant to be a shared hole. only replacing one main as opposed to the 15 or 17 that are left will certainly create tension and playability issues. so OP would be much better off stringing the entire full bed of mains instead of just one.

It's a good deal, the sale has been going on for quite a while now. Maybe because not many people want pink strings.
