These are fantastic speakers, and I believe this is the lowest-ever price from an authorized retailer. (I bought them from Woot when they had them for the same price last year, but even though they're an Amazon subsidiary, they're not an authorized dealer, so no warranty.)
These work great for music and TV, and while not quite 100% flawless, the connectivity has improved a lot with firmware updates. Because of DSP, they have more bass than the passive LS50 Meta (and you have three settings for how much bass you want), but it's still a 5.25-inch driver, so bassheads will want to add a sub.
Best Buy right now has the black speakers as open box excellent condition for $1521.99. Their website says Excellent condition is "Looks brand new & includes all original parts." I also googled the warranty and it says "Open box items carry the full manufacturer warranty per Best Buy."
I hope that helps.
1. You need a sub with these.
2. These prices are heavily inflated. So, it's not a $800 discount. It's more like a $200 discount.
I use these as near field speakers on my desk for music and gaming. It's pretty overkill so I don't need a sub at that distance/use case.
Totally agree that prices are overinflated. That applies to all audio products whether it's car or home audio. You can bet there's at least 100% profit margin on these things.
What you're paying for is a no fuss solution to enjoy your music. Will sound better than most separates you can put together at this price range. The other cost is for the new app which is now light years ahead of the previous.
how is the reliability though? hear about failures with the active amp electronics out of warranty, which is concerning.
I've had mine since Sept of 2020, no issues at all. Great speakers and have them paired with 2x Rel HT-1205s. I paid $2350 back then discounted $150 from the $2500 list.

I'd probably get extended warranty or use a card that has it since Kef hasn't fully figured out the electronics in these yet.
