Sony yes, canon not so much. Definitely better than Nikon. L mount sigma lenses are some of the best value and quality lenses.

If you're not already invested in the Lumix FF platform, not sure if i'd go this route. Looks like Sony/Canon and maybe eventually Nikon will have the best lens selection.

Often wish I'd got this instead of a Canon R7 (aps-c) and then eventually transitioning to a canon R6. Excellent video features and affordable Sigma lenses

B&H has the S5ii for $1617 with the edu discount. I can get the 35mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8 for $1950.

Edit: it's actually cheaper on Adorama which comes out to $1775 for the S5II and 35mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8 but taxes makes it $1957. Wish they had a card like Payboo card for B&H.

I own two of these bodys. Fantastic cameras. Cant recommend them enough. Only thing you are missing out of is high frame rate 4K. They have done a great job for me on two professional projects.

Eh. Sony has a wider selection but I'm not sure if the actual lenses are significantly better than canons. If you're going for more options and more affordability then Sony definitely has canon beat. But if you're looking for overall quality then canon might have an edge. I'm not taking sides in the debate but most reviews I've seen have put canon glass above Sony.
