Many of these tablets soften the plastic/rubber flange in the toilet leading to the seal being broken causing water leaks past the flange. Therefore potential of replacing internal toilet complements.

If you want an expensive leak and/or plumbing bill in the future, use these.

You mean the $10-15 components?

I've been using spa bromine tabs in our Kabooms. Works great and cheaper per tab than these.

If you put them in the tank, but not if you put them in the Kaboom toilet bowl cleaner.

Lots of reviews stating people are using these in the Kaboom device.
I just measured a Kaboom tablet and it was 1.25" diameter. Description states these are 1.18" diameter. These should work fine in the Kaboom dispenser, but likely won't last as long, and reviewers state a strong bleach smell in use.

Yup, had that happen with my Costco water ridge toilet. Had to replace the entire assembly in the tank. Fortunately it was free under warranty, but not using anything like this in the future.

If the tabs contain, the chlorine will attack rubber seals over time.

That said I am a pretty religious user of the clorox tabs, they work EXTREMELY well to prevent the bowl from getting skanky, and I've never had a single leak caused by them in over 20 years of use across all manner of toilet/manufacturer. I have replaced toilet tank components numerous times but each of those was due to slow leaks in the flapper seal (e.g. toilet runs intermittently). Usually when I do that, I take the opportunity to tear down the entire toilet tank, clean and replace all components. It's like $25.,

If you have stains in your toilet bowl, nothing beats occasional use of Lysol Power Clinging Gel. Stains that would take hours of scrubbing, and then might not even be gone, melt away with barely an scrubbing. Miraculous. And you don't use it more than once per month, with none of it effecting the rubber fittings in your tank.

Bromine (e.g. the acid it produces) will attack metal, whereas chlorine attacks rubber. Neither is particularly good however the time scale of the attack is important.

Depends on what the stains are.

When we bought our previous home, there was a ring of orangeish deposit around every toilet roughly at the water line. Knowing that the home had had a prior issue with iron (before a softener was installed), I tried everything to get the stains out, literally every practical chemical to etch the iron. Nothing worked.

Then I eventually tried a pumice stone (actually made for scrubbing grill grates). The stains came right off with little effort. For the most part though, if you keep the bowl clean by giving it a brief scrub periodically, you shouldn't have to really scrub the hell out of it or use harsh chemicals.

Good price but things are never great to use long term because of the way they destroy the rubber seals mentioned above.

If you're like me who is sensitive to strong bleach smells, don't buy this. The smell is so unbearable for me and gives me a really big headache.

Not to mention the higher water bill from leakage causing intermittent filling.
