$16.66 per TB doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

If this helps any surprisingly enough the red plus works as a file/data storage type hard drive too.. I was very lucky in that amazon for some strange reason could not for the life of them ship me the 1 TB Western Digital black version hard drive I wanted (same form factor as this red plus one not like a m2 drive or anything) and the first time they messed up amazon said " Hey just keep it no need to return it " .. couldn't believe my luck Smilie .. it was a 2 TB drive that worked great for my file storage despite it being intended for NAS if I understand correctly.

Depending on how loyal you are to WD brand, seagate at newegg has had their exos (apparently their top of the line drive) and firecuda drop as low as $120 , picked both up on sale when sold by newegg and
have been working well so far on my win 10 desktop PC but.. newegg is a problem Frown ... they have a bad habit of not packing their drives securely enough with padding when they ship it though they accepted my return when one badly packed drive, not surprisingly, didn't work when installed into the desktop PC so one of those roll the dice on a good deal kind of situations or what you think is a good deal anyways Smilie

Who's giving this thumbs up? Everyone that comes here should know this is a crap deal. This would've been a deal 5 years ago. Can get 1 18TB drive for this price on sale.

This is an okay deal for a NAS drive not for a PC drive.

I recommend checking out this article [easeus.com] for a comparison between external hard drives and NAS hard drives. I'd also recommend looking at this article [wondershare.com] if you want more details on the differences between the WD Red vs. Red Plus vs. Red Pro.

Can you configure that one drive for RAID 1?

It's a good deal for anybody needing extra 6TB drives.

I wish this deal was around when on of my 6TB drive died last month.
