The only thing this unit is missing is it appears not to be supported by municipalities that offer a low night time charging rate that is billed by the charger. WIFI connection directly from the charger to the utility servers to monitor usage.

Our municipality is using chargepoint and Juicebox. These two are fully UL Listed and I think that's the reason. Autel is UL Rated, but rated is not the same as UL listed.

Cable really stiff in <20F temps, but no overheats with garage temperatures over 110F easily this summer.

It's a heavy duty unit. Wifi and bluetooth work well, and you can actually hardwire ethernet on this one I believe if you don't have Wifi.

I don't have two units to test this, but I have researched this model more than many youtubers out there that do charging reviews. Yes it appears that two chargers can share one circuit based on load balancing. This load balancing is based on internet control to the two units, not control wiring between the two units. It's app driven through Wifi.

With data driven features and a dedicated app this is more powerful than the current Wall Connector in my opinion.

Maybe not as inexpensive, but you can piece together your own EVSE (colloquially called "EV Charger") using an open platform, which I find pretty slick!

Hmmm -15, I doubted I would be in the garage or anywhere else at that temp.

General information.
All currently produced EV's have the 'charger' built into the vehicle. All of these external 'chargers' are the equivalent of a power cord. They don't actually charge. They just provide physical connectivity to your electrical grid.

If you have a Tesla, the cheapest way to charge is at home using a standard NEMA14-50 outlet and the mobile charger cable. You can setup time of day charging in the app or in the car.
The Tesla wall connector provides some additional features and a higher charge rate for some Tesla vehicles.

The same holds for other EVs. Most can use a standard 240V outlet which is cheaper to install and you dont need to spend $100's on a 'charger'

Tesla's do not come with a mobile connector any more so you will need to purchase a "EVSE" if you want to charge at home. The features on this EVSE are substantial for $300, and it works for a Tesla as well as other EVs.

How many levels are there?
Level 1 - 120V
Level 2 - 240V
Level 3 - DC Fast Charge (e.g. ones that deliver 50kW+ DC directly into your battery pack)

At 50f the cable was difficult to handle when compared to more flexible options. The cold temp test is aimed at users who install the unit outside in northern locations.

For Tesla you can install an industrial grade 14-50 wall outlet from Hubbell or Bryant and control charging through the car and/or app. with the Tesla portable cable. Or get the Tesla wall charger. It's the highest rated at State of Charge. I use a 110v 20A circuit with a Lectron portable charger and 100ft.10g extension cord to deliver 16A to my M3. I'm thinking about time-of-day lower rates with a separate meter in the future.
It's much better to go with a hardwired option so you can avoid the need for an expensive GFCI that could be prone to nuisance tripping. It's often $200 cheaper to hardwire and a safer solution.

Does that 110v outlet work fine for the 16 amps? Total charge time? I was previously told I needed to run an extension cable from my dryer 240 plug outside instead of using the existing 110 outdoor wall outlet with a level 1 charger like you mentioned...? Highly considering buying my first EV and not sure if/when I can get a 240 dedicated plug put in outside before we move. Thx
I use the 110v 12A portable charger that came with my Nissan Leaf. It charges at about 5% per hour, which is about 5 miles of driving per hour of charge. Devices that plug into standard 15A outlets are typically limited to 12A for extended use, like car chargers and electric heaters. A 16A charger would probably have a sideways plug thingy for 20A outlets.

Not available online from what I can tell. The GPS embedded in the image taken shows it to be at Costco at 2 Teterboro Landing Dr, Teterboro, NJ 07608. However, the website does not show it at all.

I got the 50amp version for $385 from Amazon last winter. Great charger. Cable will be stiff in colder climates.

Ty friend

is that the only charger you use and does fine overnight basically keeping you charged?

I've seen this in-store in the Sac Area. I think the Folsom and Rancho Cordova Costcos, FYI.

the point of many charger purposes is that their power company will give a fantastically cheap deal on charging. to do so they use a connected charger that will monitor when charging occurs - so that nighttime charging will be part of the package and daytime charging will be billed at the normal rate.

in my area $30/month for enough kw to drive 8-12,000 miles (obviously dependent on veh/driving style etc etc) - so for many who charge each night and drive a lot - the right "chargers" pay themselves off quickly and save after that
