Product/item is sold directly by the Acer brand
Product is a certified refurbished unit; it has been professionally restored by an Acer approved vendor
Units are usually cosmetically indistinguishable from new products, but some may show signs of light use but product will function equivalent to a new unit
I grabbed this one with the full power 3060, refurbished from acer with the 2yr warranty.
Coming up on a year and it has been a great laptop.
Handles D4, MW2, Assassin Creed etc with no problems.
The start up noise sound it plays was cool the first couple times.. than it's annoying. This is disablable in bios.
My unit arrive looking brand new. Popping the rear cover off, there wasn't even any dust in the fans.
This thing IS on the heavy side. Plus the powerbrick it's heavier than most.

My takeaways from the videos are:
150W 3070Ti (like the ones in this) are within probably 12-15% of the desktop version, which is really impressive
Overall this is a really nice laptop, good cooling/thermals but the fan can get loud
2x DDR5 capable slots (installed: 2x 8GB)
The included 1TB NVMe is good, almost gets to comparable speeds as WD850X/Samsung 980 Pro
Second M.2 slot is available, but make sure to get a single-sided drive due to clearance requirements (it looks like you can probably use a double-sided drive on the left/primary slot, but I can't confirm because I don't have it yet)
Although not listed directly in the specs, this model is supposed to have a 240Hz display, and the screen colors are reported to be above average/very good
Only 1 USB-C/Thunderbolt port (on the back), and it doesn't tie into the discrete graphics card (3070 Ti)
Includes a mini display port and HDMI port that do connect to the discrete graphics card
This model can charge using the USB-C port (not sure what limitations this has)
Build quality is good to great
Hinges feel sturdy, although while typing it can shake a bit, which is not very noticeable viewing the screen, but can be jarring for the webcam
Startup sound will probably get old fast and can be disabled in the BIOS or software
Per-key RGB controls
How does the laptop 3070ti compare to the desktop version? I'm finding it difficult to find comparisons, but I just need an approximation like is it 3060ti desktop level or worse?

Thanks for the videos. I have been casually watching for a new laptop for a few months now as my old one is starting to go (about 4 years old). This seems to check all the boxes for me, so I ordered it last night. I've been second guessing myself, but those videos really helped to put my mind at ease. Seems like a really good laptop for the price.
That second video is really good for anyone looking to add/replace a drive. It looks like the second M.2 slot needs to be single-sided.

Here's the million dollar question....why is Acer selling a ton of these refurbs.
Its a valid question. My guess is either whole components failed that were then replaced, or customer returns that then passed their tests.
I decided to buy mainly due to 2 things:
Refurbished by the Acer (manufacturer)
Includes a 2-year warranty from Allstate (never used them before, but I've found in most cases I can usually get items repaired or replaced with something else with a bit of hassle)
The Acer nitro 5 has been on sale for around $50 more with similar specs brand new. That, coupled with the proximity of BF & CM and I would be waiting (and I am) unless you need it now. 3070ti is a solid option, but we are already seeing sub $2k 4080 laptops.
Lol unhelpful huh? By mentioning another laptop that can be had for a similar price/specs new vs refurb? Get a life champ. More information is never a bad thing. Some people like making informed decisions.

I bought a refurb Acer Predator with the 3070ti a couple months ago off ebay. The hard drive had total boots.
I can't say about this one, but from that thread, basically companies were buying these for their staff who need something stronger than a business laptop. They've be opened and custom software would be installed, They'd order too many, and it wouldn't be used and returned. Acer would have to reformat it, and it be considered refurbished as a result.

The other deal that is almost as good is this one. I almost pulled the trigger on it before seeing the Acer, which dropped in price yesterday by $100.

The laptop he uses is different, but it's likely a similar comparison. His channel also has a favorable review of this laptop
