With all of the Ebike deals posted lately, here is another one.

Regular price is $1899.99. Class 3 ebike.

While looking for another bike to match my Juiced RipCurrent, thank you again OP, I found this on Best Buy.

Specs are pretty good and comparable to the RipCurrent for a lesser price. This one is a full suspension. Before anyone start saying that it's only a class 2, please look at the manual on SWFT's site. On page 23, similar to the RipCurrent, it states having a class 3 mode capable of 28mph. The aHs is lower but this is a good price for a lightweight full suspension ebike.

Here are the specs.

Product Weight
58.4 pounds

Battery Charge Time: 6 hours

Battery Amperage: 10.4 ampere hours

Battery Voltage: 48 volts

Maximum Operating Range: 43 miles

Motor Power: 750 watts

Maximum Speed: 20 miles per hour

Throttle: Yes

Throttle Control Mechanism: Half twist

Electric Bike Classification: Class 2

Unless you are an experienced mechanic or machinist, beware of inexpensive full-suspension bikes of all kinds, especially ebikes. While this is a nice spec for $700, the rear suspension is a notable liability. No shop is going to have parts for this linkage, so you're at the mercy of whatever customer support SWFT can provide. Given that this motor can kick out 750w, roughly equivalent to an Olympic-level track cyclist, you are going to put accelerated wear on the system.

Given how badly many companies over-ordered this season, I think you'll see a glut of ebikes dumped at fire sale prices this fall. If you can, hold out for a hard tail and reduce the number of systems you have to worry about failing in the future.

That's just not true, all of these bikes just use off the shelf parts, it's easy as hell to find replacements for everything at your LBS...

That's literally true. I have 20+ years experience managing service in those LBSs and the suspension parts this bike uses are the same nylon junk, and no-name rear shock found on big-box store bikes. The lower pivot on this bike appears to be a bearing at least, but all the other parts have the hallmarks of hard-to-source parts that you're lucky to find on amazon if you find them at all.

I cannot stop anyone from buying what they want to buy, but I can save them several hundred dollars and a few weeks without a bike when something goes wrong.

No name junk parts that use *standard* fittings, they didn't invent a new rear shock connection for Best Buy ffs.

Do you have specific make-model recommendations to look for?

I'd actually love to have a rear suspension and don't mind machining or modding parts. I think the price is great, but the bike is a cheap bike. Small battery, mechanical brakes, no name motor, no name brakes… if I wanted a real introductory bike with power it might be an option, but I think spending a bit more and getting a lot more is a better option.

That's not entirely correct. Look at VanMoof, Amsterdam that went bust recently. They used custom parts and now customers are finding it hard to get replacements or have aftermarket shops do necessary repairs. So much so, folks are stealing other Vanmoof bikes just to cannibalize them and use parts in their own bikes.

Just do your due diligence in ensuring that some of the basic parts used in these bikes are over-the-shelf otherwise thee will be expensive paperweights.

The few e-bike deals I thought I got SLICK.... turned out to just be 'good' because of this trend and I wasn't aware. Unsure if I would have waited as they are still good deals, but buying an $1,800 cargo e-bike for $1100 from someone who only used it once for a YT video was a slick deal, until the day after the company started selling it for $1,400 brand new.

The Aventon Abound I was thinking of buying was on sale for $2,100, then $2,000 and with a second battery going for $300 after $200 off. NOW, it's $1,799 and the battery is on sale AND the discount for only $200. Basically a free second battery.

I second that we will start seeing much more deals and folks should think hard about how much they want the product given the sale price.

lol @ the thought of rich assholes buying stolen VanMoofs to fix their own overpriced, over-engineered pieces of trash.

Not they saying they do or do not, just it's funny imagery seeing how low someone with that kind of disposable cash will succumb to.

Side note: McLaren has a subsidiary called Lavoie that just bought VanMoof and hope to keep it alive - this makes the 3rd party development for their required app some folks are working on, likely just temporary and customers can stop freaking out for the time being.

Folks show their American-ness of not realizing the world is bigger than them all the time on these types of products.

Oh no, a Chinese e-bike needs new parts - where to find them? I don't know, maybe AliExpress - the store dedicated to Chinese shops and businesses from China.

why does post say class 3 (max 28mph) but specs class 2 (max 20mph)? Yes I read the post, but unless someone shows this can be hacked into a class 3 i wouldn't count on it. Bike manuals are often generic for many models.
