Is there risk with using this? I've heard the Tesla Tap is good and UL certified. This seems iffy to plug an expensive car into.

Lectron also has one for about $150 that is UL certified. I feel like this is one item to not skimp on. Saving $80 isn't worth an insurance claim.

Oh nice, they got them certified. They used to just say "uses UL listed components"

The one linked in this deal doesn't even say UL components.

I agree. Don't skimp when 60 amps is involved.

Please help me understand why don't I just get from Tesla directly for cheaper? Is it high power difference?

https://shop.tesla.com/product/sa...ng-adapter

I just checked again and Tesla one is only good for level 2. I guess I would only look for Tesla super charger when on the long distances trip, so I have not looked into the possibility of non-tesla fast chargers.

This is the reverse of that product.

NCAS to sae-j1772. The Tesla link is sae-j1772 to NCAS.

Now that most manufacturers are moving to the NACS (Tesla) charge port, I expect these to start getting really affordable.

This adapter is not for use at a supercharger.

It was announced back in May, the tooling was already done long before that..my guess is the market will be flooded very soon.

Yes, but target date for other EV to have NACS is 2025. So sure what your "very soon" is.

I looked into all of the cheap ones and then two reviews mentioned melting. So I made the same conclusion. UL or nothing

If your car is part of the NACS switch, Tesla is making the official adapter next year that will work at super chargers (Ford, GM, Honda,Volvo, Nissan, polestar, rivian, fisker, Mercedes).

I am waiting for that so I'm not double spending
