The 2TB sn850x was on sale for $90 recently, this should be lower to be a deal I think.

All Gen 4 ssds are. Question is if you need a heatsink or not.

A year ago the 1tb sn770 was about this price.
I have one and it works great for daily chores and gaming, too.
I love these prices! The only question is how low will they go on Black Friday.

Good question... can you remove the heat sink? I just purchased a motherboard that has three covered slots. I'm old school...I still can't believe 5.25 drives are going the way of the dinosaur. Why I remember a time when hard drives roamed the land, getting fat on data....those were the days

This one doesn't come with a heatsink so you can use the one that comes with your mobo.

I also have one of these in 1TB as it was a great price at the time. I am using it in one of the refurb Acer machines that were here on Slickdeals. I originally set it up as my Plex server, but my older and larger machine had my Samsung 2.5 SSD go bad. It was a shock and difficult to recover, since it was on Windows 7 and I used it with older software for digital conversion of HI8 movies, etc. So I kept the original hard drive and will use it to recover to a much older state on a new Samsung SSD. To install all of the patches for Window 7 are no longer available.

The WD 770 does not have a heatsink and I periodically look to see if the temperature goes up significantly in the small form factor machine. It has not. It normally runs under 40C even in a warm room, but since it is now my work computer, I am not doing anything major except general computing, video streaming, etc. If it was in a laptop or gaming console you might want to watch the heat especially if the game is actively using the SSD, since air flow may be more limited.

Since the prices of SSD are so good right now, I also upgraded my wife's laptop, but followed the recommendation of some on this site to use a Gen 3, if Gen 3 is the best you have on the laptop, because they will run cooler and there may not be room for a heatsink.

No it's not:
Max Sequential Read Up to 5150 MBps
Max Sequential Write Up to 4850 MBps

"The sequential read speed of the drive needs to be at least 5,500MB/s"
