I agree that the app sucks but the unit is great. I bought from Costco this year at a higher price. Installing the framework sucks. Love how the window is mostly closed and feels secure. If I didn't feel so poor at the moment I would buy another.

Could you provide more info on installing the framework and what you mean by the window mostly close?

Great AC unit. I have had mine for about 2 years with 0 issues. I have not had any issues with the app. I like the scheduling option in the app. I agree, the mounting bracket was a pain to install but searching on YouTube for Midea u-shaped installation videos really helped! I bought this for my wife, since she's hot natured. She thanks me all the time for her restful (cold) night of sleep. I live in a 2-story house with central air. We use this in our master bedroom and is installed on the window by her side of the bed.

That would be nice. I live in Minnesota and this week we might need both. 80s during the day and 40s at night.

Nope. As another replier said, I'm also in MN and would love that for my home office. I sent a request to Midea last year just to show that there's demand for the concept. They pointed me to the non-U which I was already aware of. Other than no heat I love it. Keeps my office cool rather than using central and cooling 2600sqf when I'm the only one home.

Quite a swing!
There is portable unit that comes with heat but not sure if it has a pump to throw out condensation.

I haven't had too many issues with the app. Sometimes it logs me out but it takes like 2 seconds to hit a button to relog in. Never got bounded to a different account though

Not yet but it's only a matter of time. Some say window units with heat pump inverters will replace central air altogether once they can operate in much colder climates while remaining energy efficient.

Thanks! I will freeze the plans for split AC then.
Central HVAC repairs are expensive. Having these supplements central HVAC seems more efficient and inexpensive in the long run. Also cannot be run by a portable generator in an power outage.
