It's a great machine. I purchased it for emergency back up in case of a power outage in hurricane season. Being an inverter unit, it uses less power at startup. Once the compressor slowly starts, it doesn't stop running. It throttles the compressor down so there aren't large loads suddenly put on your generator. I can easily run it with a 2000W generator.

A few weeks ago I came home from vacation to a central unit that failed. I put the window unit in our bedroom and we slept like babies. The repairman wanted to come out and charge us an after hours call. We waiting until Monday and paid a far cheaper bill while still being comfortable. It didn't pay for itself, but it saved us quite a bit.

Thanks for the heads up, could get it delivered tomorrow rather than next week through amazon.

Also got a $50 off coupon from my power supplier (oncor in Texas) through Home Depot (was linked next to the price on their page). Have the 12k unit from Costco earlier this summer and very impressed by the efficiency, low noise, and the ability to mostly close the window.

I've got two of these that I've been using for a few years now. Great unit. Super quiet, super efficient.

In general, I don't trust IoT devices, so I've never hooked it up to WiFi to use the app or voice assistance features, so no comments there. But as a pure A/C unit, it's hard to beat.

Would this be too big for a room that, by calculations, only requires a 5K unit?
I haven't seen an inverter AC smaller than 8K.

good deal at this price. I have 3 of these in each of my bedrooms. My only gripe is in my opinion the installation is annoying compared to a regular window AC. There's just alot more moving parts between the outside bracket, cutting the foam etc.

However, totally worth it once installed. I got a supposedly really quiet window AC for my kids room and the thing was loud as heck. Switched to the Midea and it's super quiet. The variable fan speed on the app is great as you can select 0-100%. On the lower settings say 10%, it keeps things cool in a smallish bedroom but is super quiet.

It's actually super easy to install the metal hanger bracket. I didn't screw it into my sills like they wanted you too I just installed it so it was easily removable. I shoved the included foam everywhere and it's quiet and sealed. He means the window is mostly closed, because… it mostly closes, look at the unit… there is a big split down the middle of it where the window sits in

I have one of these running in my 2yr old's room that's about 150sqft. I have no idea how efficient it is at that sq ft. but cools down quick and I set the fan on the app really low, like 10% and it's super quiet and I've had no issues.

Same as you, I tried to find a smaller dual inverter unit but they don't make them. In a smaller room you're also going to hear the noise alot more which makes the midea even more compelling.

I just installed the 12k one from Costco and it's rattling. I'm surprised no one mentioned it.
I did a quick google search and I found out that it's a common issue. It's going back to Costco today.

Thanks, Got it for $189 from HD with the Oncor instant rebate. I'm with TXU but I believe Oncor is everyone's underlying supplier in Texas. I didn't see the $50 coupon offered in Chrome my laptop but was able to get it on my phone. Cheers!

Anyone use a bracket like this on vinyl siding? I don't want to put dents in it. Maybe put a piece of 1"x4" across to even the pressure against the house?

If you want a permanent installation you want a mini split. Window air conditioners leak a pretty good amount of air, even premium ones (otherwise you'd have mold issues). The top of the window is sealed by pourous foam as per normal with window air conditioners, the goal being more to keep bugs out rather than a perfect seal.
