This pops up regularly but AFAIK, only the first few batches of IKEAs were eneloop equivalent, then (after probably creating the reputation they wanted), they switched back to some lower quality ones, classic mid term bait and switch. I don't have the info off hand, but if you plan on byuing the LADDA, don't go on old or re-baked youtube reviews. Just my 2c

Laddas sold in the US are made in Japan and are precharged, low self discharge.

Yeah, since March these spiked in price for whatever reason and now they're just back to the normal ~$17 that they were for years.
This ain't a slickdeal but if you need 'em now, this ain't a "ripoff" price either.
Please don't upvote this and normalize inflation (but thanks to OP just the same, effort is appreciated).

Yes, that was a great charger, mine failed too. The Eneloops outlasted the chargers LMAO

I've been using the "Xtar VC8 Plus" charger with very good results.

I bought my opus BT-c2000 in 2015 and it is still running great. You can pick the charge rate/or even discharging if you desire. It is a lot more expensive than when I bought it. It only has a capacity of 4 batteries: https://www.amazon.com/BT-C2000-c...B00JL3XL2G

The Ladda are excellent. I bought Ladda 5 years ago and I bought Ladda 10 years ago. Both batches are still going strong. I bought more when I bought my home and suddenly needed more batteries to go in all the new stuff I also needed.
I have not had to throw away any of them. I did lose a few though.

For anyone interested. The only rechargeables that I've found to be terrible were Duracell and Rayovac. Energizer will get you by in a pinch, but they'll be e-waste in 12-15 months.

for what it is worth, the following post :https://budgetlightforum.com/t/ikea-kills-off-ladda-nimh-made-in-japan/66512 has the same info I had read about 2 years ago, with a announced switch to a different production of LADDA. Eneloop also played with making some of their batteries in China with mis results.
So my 2c is make sure the one you buy are indeed made in Japan....

5 years ago is a long time in term of production, the game in recent year has been to introduce lower quality product under the same product ID across a wide range of electronic and stuff. The change in LADDA production was talked about 2 years ago, and most reviews online refer to data older than that.
I got myself some sony cycle energy that were themselves supposed to be eneloop rewrapped, and there were a disaster compare to real eneloop from japan.

Because those ARE eneloops. Made in the same factory in Japan. But make sure they say "Made in Japan" on them. Ikea could always do a bait and switch just like Amazon did years ago with their basics batteries to give you cheap, crappy Chinese made cells.

I have 4 Eneloops Pros. I am thinking about getting the cheaper LADDAs from IKEA to use on my smart locks.

Anyone know if I will run in to an issue using a Panasonic charger (BQ CC17) to charge the LADDA batteries? Will it still offer the same overcharge protection?

And will I be taking a risk charging 2 LADDAs with 2 Eneloop Pros at the same time on said Panasonic charger?

You're taking a negative view of the Ladda because they might be different? Because you heard that's what they do in the industry? But I've never heard a single person complain about about those batteries.
Project Farm on YouTube did two extensive videos 4 years ago and the Laddas and Eneloops ruled. One year later he did a follow-up after regular use of the same batteries. Same results.

So 10 years ago they were great. 5 years ago they were great. 4 years ago they were great. 3 years ago they were great. I'm not sure what the timeline is for your bait-and-switch industry insider info, but it just doesn't jive with me. If you have any proof at all I'm all ears. In the meantime, I'll go with my personal knowledge. Eneloops and Ladda are excellent rechargeable batteries. Project Farm says Amazon basics black are pretty good too.

EDIT* Holy shit man. I went to that link and the advert overload is ridiculous. From what I could tell after fighting my way through the ads and pop-ups and videos, it's just some guy who is looking at different batteries and providing the info about the batteries. Not much supporting evidence there. Not saying you're wrong. Just saying I'm not convinced yet. But, It did occur to me that the past 3 years we did have a global issue that resulted in lots of corner-cutting everywhere as people tried to make up for lost profits. There may something to it.

Huh? Did you read the thread? Laddas sold in the US are made in Japan.

Eneloop has some made in China batteries. Those are not sold in the US and are only in Asian markets.
