still after $400 off $1399 is a lot of money for an 4060 system , for just 350 more you will get the HP with 4080 which is insane fast in game vs this one

I am not a gamer so I do not know the difference for that. I just bought this for video editing and I could not find another PC with all of these features at this price.

PROS: PC specs already listed

CONS:

Laptop is heavy
power supply is heavy

Classic Costco ripoff pricing.

Some outlets have 4060 laptops under $1000 -Costco though? $1400 pretty please.

It's hard to beat Costcos return policy and warranty policy. Especially when it comes to brands like MSI which many people are less familiar with.

A laptop comes with a manufacturer warranty that's easy enough to make use of by going through the manufacturer website. Additionally you can purchase something like an Allstate extended warranty for around $100 if you're really concerned. Costco's warranty and return policy isn't worth spending $500 more on a product you could buy off Amazon and still have an excellent return policy.

Find something more powerful and $400 more expensive and just pay for a $100 extended warranty if you're concerned. It'll last longer, have better build quality and thermals, and be able to play games at higher settings.

Just curious. A month and a half later and I still haven't found the a comparable spec laptop for $899. I have searched a lot on Amazon and nothing comes close. I am still in the return period for this laptop so any assistance would be appreciated. This is actually going down to $1,299 in November. Anything better than 1,299 would work for me. Thanks in advance

Well, it really depends on what you value specifically. In terms of the CPU, cheaper laptops won't have the same CPU, and the 13950HX is about as good as it gets in a laptop. A big part of your cost is the 13950HX -the thing here is that the RTX 4060 is a low-end GPU and being paired with essentially the most powerful laptop CPU makes absolutely no sense from both a professional and gaming standpoint since the 4060 is generally undesirable for 3D work and video-editing due to only being equipped with 8GB video memory and it's also generally only slightly faster than a last-gen RTX 3060 if both cards are allowed a 140W TGP (the highest spec allowed for both cards).

Last-generation laptops with RTX 3070ti's perform similarly to RTX 4070 laptops in raw gaming performance, and those seem to sell regularly at around the $1000 price-point, but they do not have the ability to use DLSS 3.0 frame-generation if that's a feature you specifically want -they will however handily outperform an RTX 4060 in most cases while costing a significant amount less. I've seen in the last week or two a professional laptop with a 60HZ OLED display and an RTX 3080 for about $1300, which doesn't have the most desirable screen for gaming but does have a significantly more powerful GPU than a 4060.. It's all about trade-offs.

For me, as long as the CPU is a capable 6 to 8 core chip with multithreading I'm happy. Historically it's the GPU in a laptop that falls behind not the CPU, so for me I look for a decent CPU and the most powerful GPU I can get while not sacrificing screen quality. When it comes to just gaming you really do want to have a strong starting point for your laptop GPU so that in a year or two when new games are coming out you don't end up with buyer's remorse when you find out you'll only barely be able to run them if at all.

If you're in the $1300 price range I've seen decent laptops equipped with:

RTX 3070ti
RTX 3080
RTX 4070

all in the $1300 or lower range. Some even on this site -you can search for those keywords under the laptop section and you'll find recent or even active deals in your price range, I guarantee it.

But, if you absolutely need the best mobile CPU for a specific reason.. I can't guarantee you'll find a direct replacement.
