If used in computers you won't notice much difference unless it's a system that supports full speeds of gen4 and that's mainly during file transfers, it's still 4X speeds of SATA SSDs.
On the other hand this specific drive seems to have high failure rate and plenty of reviewers to back that up even on Newegg.

Bought this a couple of years ago for $100. Still using it on my gaming laptop as a gaming drive without a single issue.

To be clear, this is a Gen3 drive, not Gen4 anyway. You're right though, this isn't what I'd call a slow drive, even if it isn't the fastest. It's like thirty bucks though. You're not going to get top speeds for thirty bucks, and if you don't already know why you need a super fast drive, you don't need one.

I'm only looking for 2TB and 4TB drives now anyway, but I'm done with Newegg, always one issue or another and terrible service. $4 extra for an Intel 670p or via Amazon would be worth it, in my opinion. They have a Gen4 Corsair for about $35, and plenty of other options under $40. I bought a lot of Mushkin memory in the past and was never disappointed, but I can't F with Newegg anymore.

We have come so far that 2gbps feels slow to people, when I bought my first sata ssd, 400mbps was blazing fast to me.

still is. in most games, (most common bench) shows average 5< secs of loading time decrease. gen 3->4: about 1-2 secs. sometimes no difference. the MX line of 2.5" sata sdd had been the life blood of most of my builds for about 7-8 years. they have been consistently cheap, have dram, good warranty. i have been buying others recently (670p) (MSI M470) (970 evo) all nvme. but i won't sacrifice dram. I had 2 512gb M.2 SSD from adata. aside from zero dram, there was no other issue. No DRAM, however, would send that drive into 10MB/s~ write. I don't even know why they made them. Seriously.

Anyhow,TLBig GrinR DRAM matters, it holds the speeds at a steady high rate. W/O it, those speeds become much less. (although, some nvme only go down to 400-600MB/S, IE: Good 2.5" sata speeds at MIN.)

My first drive was a SATA II drive (OCZ Agility 2), so 300mbps was the limit. It made my Macbook boot up pretty much instantaneously.

I fairly recently upgraded my Desktop from an old SATA SSD to an NVME drive. I was surprised that it actually made a noticeable speed difference, but the old SSD was a bargain PNY model that could only do like 60Mbps random.

Waiting until Black Friday. Prices will be insane, in my opinion.
