I just can't bring myself to buy a Chinese made version of the classic.

Old Timer is producing USA made versions but they are significantly more expensive.

Now $19+. Was a steal at that price. Friend's son skins deer w/ it, opting for it over much more expensive knives. Repped.

This isn't dead, Amazon switched it to a third party. The link is now going back to sold by/shipped by Amazon. Smilie

Thanks for pointing that out. I almost bought one as a gift for a relative who would never carry a Chinese knife.

Note this is the chinese version. If you've figured out the difference between a US made Buck and a Chinese made Buck, this is going to be the same experience. Just like Buck, you have to look for the USA engraving on the blades.

Maybe a silly question but what is the difference between Box and CP?

Also, the item under CP says country of origin is United States. Is that item still made overseas?

Are there used deals that's worth it for US made ones? Never bought a used knife before but wondering if in some cases you might just get it sharpened.

Reading the reviews, people started pointing out around February 24, 2020 that it isnt made in USA. Order it, and if the blade doesnt have USA on it, return it. As for your question, one comes in a box, the other comes in Walmart style plastic packaging. (Look at the photo reviews).

The product specs say COO is China.

Here is the link for the made in USA version. A little different than the original design from Schrade. I have an original one from the seventies.

I am not personally against any knife made in China. Not every knife made there is garbage. I have a number of Chinese made knifes for both EDC and belt but you have to be selective.

Better off buying a Mora for around the same price. Moras have better steel.

True. Kizer would be one I recommend to anyone all day long. And sadly, they're having problems with knock offs being made, in their own country.
