Love this headset. I use this for both work and gaming. Connectivity to both Bluetooth and dongle are seamless and have never experienced connection drops in either environment. Battery life is great, I generally get two full days of work/gaming before needing to charge and it tops up quickly. You also don't need to install software to get it to work and found it rather gimmicky as all you get is Sonar which I didn't find to provide any meaningful gain in acoustics or sound.

As a plus, buy yourself a magnetic detachable cable so you can quickly connect/disconnect the headset from the power source to preserve the USB c port

Being able to stream music and podcast sounds awesome while gaming. I think these are likely are a better choice over Turtle Beach 700 Max.

I just found some 2019 Astro A40s with the Mixamp Pro for $100, but these were my 2nd choice. Is it worth trying these for a comparison? Rtings has the A40s at the top of their wired gaming charts, but these get pretty high praise as well.

I'm currently using JBL Quantum Ones and only playing on PC, so I don't really need wireless and it seems like open back headphones are better for FPS games.

I feel I can answer this pretty well since I used A40 w/ mixamp for many many years and am now using these Steelseries headphones. I'll try to keep it pretty short.

- A40's are better for positional audio, I'm 99% sure about this at this point but it's kind of hard to tell sometimes

- Steelseries are much better for music and have a more full sound (might be mostly due to them being closed back)

A40's for $100 seems pretty steep imo but if they're in great condition might be worth it.

Let me add more to this but not about sound. The A40s are heavy compared to the SteelSeries.

Oh awesome, thanks for the info. They're only for gaming, so it looks like I'll just stick with them. I've heard the mixamp is still useful if I want to go for an upper end set of open backs, so that's a nice benefit.

I was initially looking at used sets or using my $30 Amex Amazon benefit but I actually found a new PS4 set with the mixamp for $100.

Using these for my PS5 and Series X. I love these. Added some Wicked Cushions and made them even better. Super comfortable.

I've had the a40's for like 2 or 3 years. The mixamp on my a40s started messing up probably from falling off my table when I trip over the cables. I have to wiggle the usb cord for it to work now. I just bought the arctis 7xs for $65 from somebody on fb marketplace. They're way better imo. A lot more bass than the a40s and the wireless and Bluetooth ability is awesome.

Had the Corsair Virtuoso for $99, factory refurbished [corsair.com]and I ordered those. Are these better? This comparison [versus.com] seems to suggest they are not.
