I've had the non-fiber AT&T Internet at 50Mbps for free - this was a lifetime deal when I switched to AT&T Wireless. At the time, that was the fastest speed available - but they said I could always upgrade when faster speeds become available where I'd just pay the additional overage on top of the 50Mbps plan. When AT&T Fiber arrived to the neighbor, they said that I can't upgrade because "Fiber" is not the same product family as "Internet". Basically, I'd have had to sign up for a new plan at whatever the cost is...
Lo and behold, when I saw this offer, I logged onto the AT&T site to "Change my plan" to see if any new options come up. To my surprise, it shows 1Gbps Fiber at $10/month, 300Mbps Fiber at $40/month. Naturally, I signed up for the 1Gbps service - let's see if the pricing stays as stated. Otherwise, I've been itching to get faster speeds via xfinity anyway.
Good luck with "lifetime" pricing. I was supposed to be on a $70 lifetime plan and all was well for over 6 years. Then last year I was notified by email that my bill would go up $5. But they also added a $5 discount for autopay, so no big deal since my net cost was the same. A couple months ago my bill went up $5. This one was sneaky though. No email notification. Come to find out they notified me via the bill. I'm on autopay since the previous increase to get the discount so of course I don't look at the bill every month.
Not seeing lifetime $55 deal, it is the regular $80 for 1Gig for 12month.
Bundle with wireless for $60
Plus with the codes, brings the giftcard to $150 for Online order, $100 for the FALL10, $50 for ACTNOW = $300
But there is no $55
Bonus Deal: If you are a Bing user, add another $125 in Bing rewards, by shopping AT&T internet through the bing cashback offer

Switched to att a few months back with a 300 dollar gift card code offer. Never received anything. Called to talk to someone in broken English after a few months and they said I didn't redeem it in time. It was supposed to be shipped out automatically or emailed and I never received either. But they informed me it was my fault and not theirs. After an hour on the phone They then offered me 200 - not 300- through 2 50 dollar gift cards and a 100 dollar bill credit. Doing some research there is a lot online of people never receiving. Like the vast majority. It being ran as a scam.
There is also a class action lawsuit in Texas regarding this because people were never paid what they were promised when they switched/ started new services.
Seems the rewards department is probably tracked on how many rewards do not get paid out and how much they save the company.
Most people are too busy (like me) to remember or care. Only reason I called was I saw this deal pop up and it reminded me. And others probably don't want to have to call and deal with arguing with someone who speaks broken English just to get what they were promised. Great deterrent.
Quite the racket att has going with this one. What a shit company.
The gift card system is also compromised. Threat actors have access to your info and will call you up pretending to need the card details to activate your GC.
Someone really needs to punish ATT for this scam and their ineptness.
I left and returned to Spectrum after Spectrum offered me $19.99 for 300Mbps DL for 24 months. I'll until Spectrum deal expires and then I'll come back to AT&T Fiber.

I have ziply. They told me $60 lifetime for 1 gig. After 2 years. That $60 became $80. I called in countless times. Sometimes they'd put a $20 coupon. Sometimes they won't. Utilities should be government supplied.

Unfortunately, sometimes AT&T reps are dishonest at time just to get you to sign in. I would watch the first/second/third fiber bill like a hawk.
Yes. I can testify to the dishonesty of ATT reps to the point where I'm paying 60-70 dollars more than was quoted. Contacted customer service and was literally told to take it or leave it. To leave it though would cost me $4K.
I have the service. There is no equipment fee with fiber.
I also have the service and there WAS an equipment fee. I recently called to get a discount and they said the new plans are streamlined to include the fee within the pricing.
On to this deal, would it work for me to cancel my existing service and open a new account under a new name?
No longer the case, at least on fiber. All equipment is included in the price.
False. I've had att 1gb fiber for 2 years now. First year it was only $50 and included and now it went up to $64.99 plus $10 for equipment. I called to cancel to see if I can get a deal and they said no more deals this is the normal price. I'm sure it'll go up every year too.
No way 'am I leaving my T-Mobile home Internet deal ($15). A door to door sale rep asked to show him my speeds. I got 265mbps during peak speeds. He said well, we have 300mbps up and down for $55. I said he can't match my $15 plan. Then he said "what's $30 more?" umm what? The difference is $40 or $480 annually
