This thread reminded me why i moved away from ATT fiber; its so nuch headache to get the actual advertised 1gig speed.
AT&T fiber requires you to use their "gateway" which is their modem/router combo. I never was able to get good wireless speeds with it, it limits how many devices can connect to it, and I only got the 1gigabit speeds when hardwired. Running your own wireless router is actually handicapped in IP passthrough mode, so you need to do a trick with a dumb ethernet switch to bypass the gateway completely.
Wonder if ATT would throw me some sort of discount bone if I called and asked. Long time customer and don't want to deal with cancelling and reopening just to get a discount...
It's disturbing but unfortunately long time customer equals low priority customer. That basically goes for all mobile/internet service providers IMO. I'm not bitter though, LOL
Damn I ordered AT&T Fiber last week and having it installed today, so I missed out $50 bonus from ordering online. I didn't know these promotions were a good deal.
Also I'm guessing depends on your area varies rate like mine $80 for 1gig speed compare to $55 for 300mbps speed.

I got this deal recently and love it and have hint to get even better results. I got $250 visa prepaid card as a bonus AND $300 worth of free Amazon hardware, so including an Amazon Show, a Blink door bell, an outdoor camera and some smart plugs.
I was talking with a rep on the AT&T website on chat. We got to the point of beginning to take payment details and she started directing me to secure portals. I said, wouldn't it be easier if I just complete this all on the main AT&T website now? The rep I assume gets commission for finishing deals so wanted to keep me. At this point she offered to add the hardware bundle to the deal on top of the $250 Visa card if I finished with her.
I was expecting these offers to go missing, so kept a copy of the chat transcript to discuss with AT&T later, but everything worked.
As for the service itself, it's been great. Install was seamless. AT&T provide a good router / modem which provides a good signal in house (though I run my network via Eeros).
I strongly recommend this deal especially if you get the bonus hardware. But anyway without it at $55 it's a good price for 1 gig up and 1 gig down.

Shows 80$ per month for 1 gig and not 55$
Says add wireless to get additional 20$
$80-$20 = $60
