This thread reminded me why i moved away from ATT fiber; its so nuch headache to get the actual advertised 1gig speed.
AT&T fiber requires you to use their "gateway" which is their modem/router combo. I never was able to get good wireless speeds with it, it limits how many devices can connect to it, and I only got the 1gigabit speeds when hardwired. Running your own wireless router is actually handicapped in IP passthrough mode, so you need to do a trick with a dumb ethernet switch to bypass the gateway completely.
I have the BGW320-500 ATT router. I easily get my 360 Mbps speeds over AX 5Ghz band - my Internet is nominal 300 but it actually does 360. The router is like a rock - I never have to reboot it. I also have the 2nd router (AC86U with Asus Merlin) behind it that is in IP passthrough mode.
My BGW only handles AX clients (only 2 at the moment - both are work computers), and 1 IoT on 2.4Ghz to keep it outside of the home subnet. Asus router handles all the other 20+ home devices over 5/2.4 AC network.
If I were to change the fiber provider I'd only have to redo 2+1 clients, while Asus would immediately pick up whatever connection is there and not notice the switch.
Also, Asus transmission power is upped to the max so that I can cover my 2 story house with just that 1 device and get actual 100+ Mbps rates in the far corners.
It'd be easy to turn off BGW radios, and just keep Asus humming if I needed to. So what I guess I am saying one needs to understand the devices on the network - and perhaps use the ATT router-personal router set up in the most advantageous manner.
P.S. Forgot to add - use something like InSSIDer program https://www.metageek.com/downloads/inssider-win/ in order to ensure that you choosing less busy WiFi channels for each of your devices.

I had fiber (u100) for $20/month with loyalty credits and called in to ask if I qualified and the rep said I was. I don't have ATT wireless but she said I met the requirements and there would be a $10 credit applied to the account to bring it to $55 a month which would be the price for life.
I'm skeptical but we'll see what happens when the next bill comes out otherwise I'll spend the hours on the phone needed to get them to fix it.
edit: Just logged into my account and I see the $55 price.

For some reason I can only get $60/month and that's with the autopay discount. If I chat/call will I get the $55/month price? Also, I'm not seeing the lifetime price lock.

I called ATT and asked for Retentions. I currently have 300 speed Fiber and asked if a current wireless and fiber customer could get this deal. The CSR looked at my account and he said I qualified. He changed my plan to gigabit fiber and I got the email confirming that I am only paying $55/month after the discounts. He also said that I qualify for a $100 gift card which was a nice surprise. I live in the Ft. Lauderdale area so it's not just for San Francisco.
I called and all they could do is 1GB for 80. I currently have 300 as well. Sucks for them, Spectrum is currently digging up my neighborhood to install fiber, so AT&T can kick rocks if Spectrum is cheaper, they'll have about 2 or 300 cancellations. She didn't care that I told her that AT ALL.

Why would a customer service rep care? That's not their job to determine corporate strategy.

I also attest about ATT rep dishonesty, big time!!!
