many of these have appeared several times in 'new' condition, for lower prices, over the summer.

do you have to have proof of purchase to do a warranty claim with home depot?

This is a seemingly good deal that I thought about posting: https://www.directtoolsoutlet.com...R92162SB2N

For $155 you get the last generation mid-torque impact wrench (good reviews for it, it's a $159-200 gun normally), plus a battery powered pneumatic grease gun ($70 normally) and a battery powered tire inflator (also $70 normally but ugh that seems overpriced). Factory blems, three year warranty.

On the posted link, there's a great deal on the mid-torque impact gun. Other deals for that gun: $179 on sale at Home Depot now with the lifetime warranty. $199 at Home Depot for the gun and a 4.0 amp battery. On the posted deal, it's $109 factory recon with a one year warranty. I think you can't go wrong either way. Extremely useful wrench if you DIY work on cars.

Circular saw for $49. Oscillating saw for $49.

I have a whole pile of Ridgid tools with lifetime LSAs and three of them need repair. But I need to drive at least 50 miles to go to an LSA-certified repair store. There's almost no sites to take it to, and I live in a major metro area. I have to remember to bring a battery with me to demonstrate that it's not working. Then I presume they send the tool back, and I have to drive back some weeks later to get it back. So I mean, that's an excellent impact wrench. Whether you pay $200 to get the battery and the security of the LSA (knowing it will be a pain in the butt to get a warranty repair)...or just make off like a bandit getting a $200 gun for $109 and hope it never breaks, either way is up to you.

Found out HD no longer accepts warranty repair requests.
This changes things a bit as closest authorized repair center is like 40 min. drive into the city so value of LSA is quite a bit less now though I am GUESSING that they will still do warranty repair process through mail.

yeah just noticed that myself recently, anyone know when that happened? I was looking to get my miter saw fixed and found out i'd have to drive at least an hour out of my way to drop it off.

luckily i ended up being able to do the fix it myself.

Yah, just read that it happened in January of this year.
Don't know what happened, but I GUESS HD was losing money or found that they need more people to do this? I don't know. You would think getting someone into the shop especially when they MAY need a tool may be a good thing?

I had a Ryobi leaf blower sent out for service to HD in November 2022. In February 2023 they sent it back untouched, no compensation, got a call from HD indicating they couldnt get parts and had months of backlog in warehouses, chose to send it all back to owners and shut down the division instead of getting back on top of it.

Local repair shop fixed it in two weeks.

Odd, I thought HD just send these out to the authorized service centers and not actually do the repair them selves. Maybe I am wrong. Or MAYBE for some of the brands, they them selves were authorized repair shop.

Yes. Found this out the hard way. Don't bother taking Ridgid tools to Home Depot unless they're within the return period. Ridgid contracts their Lifetime Service Agreement tool repairs to random 3rd party repair shops. Almost all of them have alarmingly low Yelp and Google customer ratings, so be careful which one you pick to do your repair. The closest reputable shop to me was about 70 miles away so I had to mail my impact driver in for service.

Take note that factory recon tools from DTO ship in a generic non-original box that lacks the packaging/padding in a factory box. It's bouncing around loose. Fine for some things, but atrocious for larger items.

I ordered a factory recon edger and it was destroyed when I got it. Smaller items, such as a sander, were fine. So, just proceed with caution (especially with larger things).

No. But only blemished are covered. Refurbs are not.
