I just bought it at $220. Seemed like more work than it's worth to open up a credit card to save $20.

Unrelated to that, I love the Schlage locks. These are rock solid - at least the one that I have on my front door. Glad to be able to add one to the back door for the kids to use.

If your house is set up for Apple Homekit, the Encode PLUS is the one you need to get. Encode will not connect to Apple Homekit. I have read somewhere that someone programmed a plug-in for Home Assistant, but I haven't tried it. There is no plug-in for Homebridge for Schlage Encode.

Schlage's own app is shaky at best. Not a fan. Other than that I've used many Connect locks (both Zwave, WiFi), these are the most reliable locks out there for the most part and have way much battery life than August/Yale.

I've been maybe thinking of getting a smart lock. Can someone familiar with these say why I might want to get the Schlage here for $220 vs something like a Eufy that I see for $85 ?
I just had this exactly lock installed on our front door a month ago and have been very happy with it. We have a cheaper $80 smart lock for a garage side door. I can tell the Schlage lock is premium and much higher quality. The app works very well and reliable. But the biggest thing for us is I believe this Encode Plus is the only one on the market that works with apple HomeKit? That is the key for me as I am able to open the lock with just tapping my iPhone or Apple Watch on it. Super nice when going out for a run and don't have to bring anything just wear Apple Watch.

Tried using 3 Eufy locks, they were garbage. Battery would last 3 weeks and then die with no warning. Replaced with these and love them. Much better battery life (5-6 months) and use the Apple Watch integration all the time.

I have a bunch of smart locks throughout the house because I have inexplicable amount of external doors at my house. My favorite is Schlage, so far. 1) It's been super reliable for me, although I do agree with @RangerJay that the Schlage app is not that good. I use it only with my Apple Home Kit. 2) I have Shlage door handles everywhere, so I am trying to match the look and feel. 3) This Shlage Encode Plus is one of the few that allows you to use your Apple Watch as a key.

I've had a Eufy before. It just looked chinsy and could not lock the door reliably (motor power issue?)

I also have a couple of August locks, but the large cylinders are a little hedious.

Just personal preference I think. For me I'm replacing my current Schlage non smart with this. You have plenty options or even go with August and only replace the inside deadbolt while keeping your current keyhole.
I don't like the august door lock, the battery life sucks and I have to change it every 2 months or so, very poor battery life. I might change to this door lock since it has apple home kit and can use your Apple Watch to lock and unlock

I have had the Encode (not the plus) for about 3 years and has worked very well until recently. I contacted Schlage just yesterday and they said they have had a circuit board issue with their locks and without hesitation, are shipping me a new one and said to just toss the old one. To me that's great customer service. Also it has worked great with our Ring app.

I got one of these from HomeDepot for full price as our front door lock was getting stuck constantly. I cringed at the price originally but honestly it is 100% worth the money to never have to pull out a key for the front door again, and the peace of mind of being able to configure a code for a peter sitter or visitor etc. and not have to worry about getting them a physical key

I've had this lock since it came out. It's been rock solid with HomeKit and rechargeable batteries. HomeKey is very handy if you're in the Apple ecosystem. Still waiting for HomeKey support for guests.

Why did you contact support? Wasn't your lock working?

Lockpicking Lawyer picks Schlage locks in about 30 seconds, and he found a serious flaw in a similar Schlage Smart Lock (the Schlage Control Smart Deadbolt BE467).

Just search "Lockpickinglawyer Schlage" on youtube. Hopefully Schlage has fixed the flaw.

Lockpickinglawyer practically picks any lock in around 30 seconds. Don't think there is any unpickable lock out there.

Nobody cares. My old house was broken into once before. Want to know how they got inside? They kicked the side door 4 times to break it open from the door frame in broad daylight. Faster than lockpicking lawyer's slow as snails 30 seconds pick.

I watch his channel for entertainment. Even have his lockpicking kits that I play around with for fun. I'm not even worried about being locked outside and needing to use my newfound skill to pick the lock because with smart locks, I don't ever need to worry about it.

/shrug might as well not worry about it for $30 instead of 10x as much. Don't have to worry about batteries, either.
