I'm almost 40yrs old, and I've seen and watch TONS of movies, including being an AMC stubs member. A lot of people are slamming me but I watched this movie at the theater without having any expectation of it. And the movie made me laugh, cry at certain points uncontrollably, Sci-Fi elements, action. I think it also had to do with in upbringing of my childhood and never feeling I was enough. The constant struggle of the wife always looking for more, taking her husband for an idiot, when she had everything she needed all along. It was a very deep sentimental experience for me Coupled with the fact I'm a huge action and Sci-Fi fan with loads of hilarious ridiculousness. I've never seen a movie where, I'm laughing and crying at the same time. Paid full price upon release and have seen it 4 times total.
EEAAO #1 and probably Marcel the Shell with Shoes on were my favorite movies of 2021

It did well with the critics and I'll give it credit for originality / going off the beaten path but I didn't like it at all and wished I had walked out of the theatre. FYI when I saw it several people did walk out and as someone who has been going nearly every week (since the Moviepass days and now with AMC Stubs) - I've never seen so many walkouts before. It's a very polarizing movie.
I walked out of Asteroid City recently (only time this year) to give you a sense of my taste in movies - that too I thought looked original and interesting in the trailer (with strong cast) but it was boring and poorly executed
lol I felt like I was the only person that thought the movie sucked. I rented it based off all the hype and knowing the general premise and just turned it off towards the end when i stopped caring.

I could not agree more on EEAAO. I did the equivalent of a walk-out by stopping the movie at home and never finishing it. I won't start global thermonuclear reply posts on the implications of The Academy giving it an Oscar lol and just stay this opinion is my own.
This was a really good movie to me, and for the first time in many years, I watched it in theaters with absolutely NO idea it even existed; never watched any type of promo for it or even its name mentioned.

But is what it is.
I'm mixed on it, had high expectations when I was reading everyones glowing reviews on slickdeals etc. Ordered it, was very meh for me. Have watched it a few times because people wanted to, decent atmos audio track, meh story for me.

It's just one of the movies you either love or hate.

I found the bonus content more interesting than the movie, especially the background on locations.
This is about double my usual buy price for movies, but I don't think I'll be owning this one at any price.
- Actually paid to watch the movie in a theater. Walked out in the middle
- On Showtime, had to turn it off on the dildo-numchucks scene
- Tried to watch again, but gave up again.
I guess I don't get it..But is what it is.
