My Japan-made zoji still has the nonstick surface fully intact 20 yrs later. I would not get a cooker that makes you eat that coating off over time. Dang.

Is there an option for one without the coating?

I love my Zojirushi! I make steel-cut oats often and was lucky to find a deal (years ago) on the model that has the option to make it. I occasionally wipe the rubber O-ring on the top with oil to keep it in a good condition. I make mostly steel-cut oats and basmati rice in it I've even left it on warm for over 24 hours straight.

I'm tempted to get this one too for the price to see if it can hold up so I can keep it at the office.
It sounds strange that you use oil to clean up the rubber ring. To maintain the seal, you are supposed to remove oil, not adding oil. Cleaning with water + baking soda is what we do. Hope yours last longer.

EDIT: NVM. I did some search and found out that some oils (like almond oil) can be used to keep rubber from cracking! Wow, learn new things everyday!

I rather buy DPRK made knockoff since they make it better than any Chinese rice cooker.

For those of you worrying about peeling off the coating... there are several points you can use to prevent that. Do not use abrasive brush or washcloths when you wash the inner pot. If you cook rice and other grains, there is nothing dirty really. Put some water for 5-10 minutes and gently rub with your hands. That's a recommended washing technique for rice cookers. If you want some much solid coating that won't come off for decades, go for more expensive models. Cuckoo top line models have so called diamond coating which lasts decades. Once Tiger and Zorgirushi were the kings of rice cookers. After Cuckoo came out, that became a history.

Happy cooking!

Made in China with the standards set by the Korean company, this goes for most reputable brands, Apple, Samsung, plus a lot of American companies have their electronics made in China to the company's standards, there's a BIG difference between a Chinese product from a Chinese company and a Korean/Japanese/American product made in China.

Don't be so ignorant.

Is this different one compared to the one from Costco? Or are they the same?

Tested it tonight.
White rice comes out fluffy and uniform, even if you only make 1.5 "cups" at a time. (Rice cooker "cups" are much smaller than actual 8-ounce cups.)
No crust at the bottom, not dry on top.
Works as well as any other Micom rice cooker I've tried.
For $50 I'm very happy.

It was $79.99 when I posted the deal. ($69.99 at Walmart.)
Cuckoo America must have lowered the price in response to Walmart's discount.
They offer free shipping to USA.
Good catch!

Cup size matter,

I typically makes 1-2 cups. So 3 cup cooker is better for me.

If you buy this large capacity rice cooker, you would need to cook at least 6 cup plus to make good rice
As mentioned above, I just made 1.5 "cups" and it came out great. I'm not sure how low you can go.

With the mechanical clicky-switch kind, I agree that you have to make a lot more rice at a time, because the bottom always gets overcooked if you don't. But these computer controlled cookers (apparently the Asian term is "Micom") do much better with smaller batches of rice. I can make one meal's worth, or I can make enough for several days of fried rice.
