Lol I paid $55 for it a month ago thinking it was a great deal. Looks like the deals keep getting greater. Meanwhile Apple charging hundreds for the same amountโ€ฆ
Apple will have everything soldered to the board making every Appleยฉ product almost impossible to upgrade.

My question was more to see if it's a good time to buy. I feel like a lot of times a good deal is posted only to be bested a few weeks later.
SSDs are in free-fall right now, if you buy now, a better deal will show up later...until it doesn't. The free-fall in prices will end sooner or later, and no one knows when.

Buy it if you need it.

If you don't need it, why buy it? If you don't need it, you can wait to see how much lower they go. Of course, you could wait too long and see the prices go back up again, but if you don't need it, you don't need it.

But they're getting so cheap per TB that even if you buy it now and the price drops, you're not going to "lose" a ton anyways.

Seen 980pro 1TB for $49.99 a couple times recently. This price for older/slower seems less slick. Am I missing anything about these drives?
There are MILLIONS of systems out there that can't use the speed of the 980 Pro, and AFAIK it will run a lot hotter than the 970, which matters in laptops.

Wonder what's causing the prices to fall so much. Is it excess supply or poor demand? Makes me also wonder about how much it actually costs to make these things and the original markup on them for prices to fall this quickly.

I bet 70% of Apple's revenue can be attributed to product differentiation based on storage.

Don't beat yourself up. That's the way of technology. You buy technology and it looses 100% of its value in a year

Any enclosure recommended for this ssd? Thank you.
I have a few of the ORICO enclosures that were on SD in the last month. They work great! I loaded one up with Plex movies, another one for large game files. No issues so far.

Should I purchase 1 to install into Synology Diskstation 1522+ that I just bought from the last Synology deal? I will install it as SSD cache upgrade for the NAS unit.

Edit: https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/864499
Hi djdumbbii,

did you use samsung 970 evo plus in your synology ds 1522+ for cache? Is read-only cache or read/write cache? How is it? Is it noticeably faster? how's the temp? did the temp increased? by how much? what's the actual temp?

Thanks!
