Lowest price in the last year, but average price is around $45. Not $60.

How does this compare to the regular lectrofan model?

https://www.amazon.com/Adaptive-S...B00E6D6LQY

Edit: From the Q&A. " They both have ten different fan sounds and ten different white noise variants, but the EVO has an extra ocean/surf white noise setting, an updated control panel and the EVO also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. I hope that this answeers your question."

Also a couple commenting on how this new one is quieter, has less low end sound and doesn't last as long as the classic.

The classic is also on sale for about the same price.

I own two of the original, purchased a couple of years apart, both going strong.

From my own research I came to a similar conclusion, seems like the original is better in the areas I care about.

I'm confused as to why digital versus mechanical is a selling point. Is there a way that it's superior?

Thanks for sharing your experience. My first classic died on me but I do use the volume up/down button every night. I like how it is much louder than the marpac dohm I also use.

I think it's a personal preference. IMHO mechanical noise machines have a more natural fan sound. I sleep with a loud fan on low, a marpac dohm (now yogasleep?) and a lectrofan classic. I prefer the fan sound but the lectrofan classic is louder. I have it tuned to sound similar to a a fan. The only things I hear are low, bassy sounds like door, drawer, cabinet slamming and stomping. I sometimes barely hear the garbage truck and helicopter.

I own both and really like them both. There are pros and cons, but a couple of pros for the LectroFan are that it is louder and uses less power, and will probably last longer, as compared to the Dohm.

If anyone is interested in the power draw of an original LectroFan (which I just received yesterday) compared to a Marpac Dohm, I did some tests using a Kill-a-Watt meter. (The LectroFan draw was so low that I had to power BOTH machines, then unplug the LectroFan and subtract the difference.)

Dohm Low: 6.1 W, 10.1 VA
Dohm High: 18 W, 36.1 VA
Lectro Low*: 0.1 W, 0.1 VA
Lectro High*: 0.6 W, 0.6 VA
Lectro 85dB: 0.7 W, 0.7 VA
[* LectroFan Low & High measurement are using the sound with the highest power draw, and at a volume which corresponds to the Dohm High & Low decibel output. The "Lectro 85dB" line is significantly louder than the Dohm can reach.]
So for the same sound level, the digital one uses 60 to 100 times less power. This could be especially significant if you want to power it via battery, which you can do for the LectroFan by plugging its USB cable into a small portable power bank.
