Most phones can broadcast wifi signal and act as a wireless router using it's own mobile data. Much more cost effective than paying $$$$ for additional cell service. But if you don't care about spending the extra coin, to each their own.
I have an M2 Air, 14" M1 Pro, and an M1 iPad Pro — the iPad sees probably 5x the use of the other two combined.
$10/month isn't bad though, especially if you can replace a regular phone plan. which carrier?

I have free/included hotspot on my verizon unlimited. Unless I switched to a low cost prepaid carrier, its the best plan I can have as it includes a FIOS discount and disney plus (it's an older plan)
