At least now that it's all USB-C, using an external drive is easy. But I don't know if one can, for example, edit a video with all the footage being in external drive?

Update: If anyone is thinking of buying this unit I highly recommend it. It took almost 4 hours to charge to 100 percent from zero. The transfer from my old iPad to this unit took about 45 minutes. Everything transferred over perfectly. The picture quality is beautiful. The speed is fast. Sound quality is good.
That makes my decision easy. No buy.
I would have jumped at 7, if it had 256gb storage at least.

This ipad pro doesn't make a ton of sense spending $800-950 to check basic email, play a movie, edit a video clip for social media.

Windows Tab LTE 256gb is $200, add keyboard for $30-100.
Shouldn't iPad Pro deal for $800 include 256-512gb same config as Macbook M1 base model?
