My city has started to require separating food waste into a specific trash bin and wet garbage spells like wet garbage after a week. I've been looking for a deal on the Food Cycler because I'm hoping to simply dry the food waste and then dump it into the trash.

I looked at Lomi, Reencle and Mill, but Lomi is more expensive and requires tablets. Reencle produces actual compost, but I'm not looking for a garden. Mill is too expensive for a monthly subscription for me to also have the option to send back the "hot garbage".

I have owned a unit for close to a year now and I use it almost daily. I stopped using the carbon lid and just set the processing lid on top. I use it for fruit and veg scraps and egg shells. With the top off, the scraps naturally dry during the day and have never molded but I also run it daily or every other day. I will fill and run the machine 2-3 times before it has enough "compost" to make the effort to throw it in my garden. It has deceased my trash volume and my kitchen trash container doesn't seem as smelly. I got it at this price and its still expensive. in hindsight would I purchase it again if I could go back in time? yes

I paid much more for it. At this price it may have been worth it, but I've been generally disappointed with it. Takes a lot of time, effort and energy. If it had been purely as an environmental move I'd feel better, but I've been composting for years without this.
