Word of caution. My company deployed about 15 of these and they all had weird docking issues. We ended up having to replace them early.

They just released a BIOS update that really messed up my Gen 1 Nano and I returned it. FYI- These are still pretty buggy. Even with the pin restart the power button flashes and the computer will not shut down. In addition, I was forced to do the bios update since the battery was not charging with the recent Windows updates. It's a good deal although just be aware that these are going through some software hurdles.

I've had this as a work laptop for 2 years. Heavy travel - domestic + Intl. Heavy usage as well.

Mine is the i7 version - laptop can be a bit hot if running on max power consumption mode. Does need a cleaning maybe once a year. Harder to clean than some other larger laptops.

Good: The weight and size. The 16:10 helps, and the 16:10 makes the 13" bearable, hard to explain but just makes the window space feel a bit better than 16:9. I run spreadsheets a lot and the 2K resolution is a huge help.

Battery life is around 2-3 hours max, still at 2 hours after 2 years of use.

I recommend especially for those that want a laptop that is good for moderate business travel, mixed with some home desk time. I would avoid touchscreen if you care about battery life. If you are constantly at a home desk and docked - you do not need this. It is also a great laptop if you're the type that sits on sofa doing work late at night, especially with the light weight, and or for coffee shops.

FYI my previous laptop was X1 carbon (have had various gens) - I do not want to go back to X1 carbon anymore, unless one exception, which is, having certain specifications/webcam/other technical things I really need for a job role.

Again, you want a link, I gave you a link. At least I have not heard about usb-c issues or bios issues with it (and I have read up on it extensively). XPG is not a no name BTW. They are from Adata who makes memory chips, most people who have upgraded their machines have heard of them.
Not trying to pick an argument with you, but you wanted a link so I gave you a link. It can be done, but big companies don't want to do it for cost and profit reasons. How about just admit that you were wrong, but prefer this ThinkPad over that one instead of just dismissing it. Let me guess, Gen Z?
What is up with the Gen Z swipe? Lol, that's pretty funny.

Thx, I've been carbon for last 5 or so years and find it hard to depart. We have the same use case. I don't need hdmi or usd-a anymore so will pick one up

Two years I've used this laptop and still enjoy it. It has proven to be one of the best lightweight, higher-powered (i7-16GB), Linux (Ubuntu) ready laptops.

How was the battery life on Ubuntu?

It's funny that you saw *was* because just recently I notice I only get 2-3 hours. I remember working all day without having to charge it.

I'm actually looking at replacing the battery and going to 1 TB while I'm at it. I had actually thought the storage was soldered as well until I saw the video on the battery replacement.

Own this as a backup (i7 version) along with a M1 Max and I love it. Went through a couple Thinkpads over the past couple of months to find the right lightweight backup. X13s too slow and ARM was restricting. X1 Nano Gen 2 has the nicer webcam, but I could not get it to stop throttling no matter what settings I tried. It was frustratingly hot all the time. This one's just right. If it had the FHD webcam it'd be perfect. A couple things that really helped find the right balance between battery life and making it feel much snappier:

1) Turn off PCI Express power management on both battery and while charging
2) Set maximum processor state on battery to 99% to prevent turbo from kicking in
3) Leave maximum processor state at 100% when charged in

I have friends working for gov saying Lenovo get caught twice having some sort of backdoor hardware in their laptops a few years back, so their departments ban using Lenovo (in favor of Dell, exclusive contract perhaps).

It is unconfirmed or verified, but I'm cautiously… so when in doubt leave it out! Could anyone here in IT please comment? Or, "neither deny nor confirm?" 😂

My little brother is in private IT working with banks, and he said it rumor mill. He used to recommend me ThinkPad over any brand, until IBM sold it to Lenovo, then he become die hard fan of Toshiba and Fujitsu for his personal uses.

Yet, I still remember my old man's IBM with floppy disk boot up which replaced his type writer. He was an accountant. Good old days with dial up were over I guess! 🤣

might as well give up on it for 13" laptops. iGPU is way faster with soldered LPDDR5x anyways

How does this compare the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 2 360 13 inch 512GB 16GB i7 12th, in terms of portability and performance? I don't plan to use the spen etc.

I know Samsung isn't know for laptops but I may consider this if additional $150 is worth returning my Galaxy Book pro and getting this?

any suggestions on a similar size, spec, price laptop but with 2-in-1 capability (can be used as a tablet with screen folded back)?

I got i7 version (Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano 13" Ultrabook 2K Intel Core i7-1160G7 16GB RAM 512GB SSD) in Feb (for $950, now $720)for my sister and she is super happy... run SAP on it... comes with a 3 year international warranty too...

Except if we are talking about in the category of superlight laptops, most people's use case would not require much gpu anyways.
