FAQ's:
- No, you cannot use Staples GC's to purchase these.
- No, these do not count towards your spend requirements for a premier membership.
- No, these do not earn you any Staples rewards.
- No, you cannot use coupons/ rewards to purchase these GC's.
- Yes, you can split payment between multiple cards (if your cashier permits it) YMMV
- The limit of 8 may or may not be enforced depending on your store/ cashier. YMMV
- Why is this a deal? Some members have CC's that earn 5% CB at office supply stores (INK and Amex Simply Cash). Others need to meet minimum CC spend.
- What if my store doesn't accept payment with a CC? Your store likely has had issues with fraud and it is managers discretion on what payment they will accept.

Are you sure? I have been out of the loop when it comes to Staples. Can you still make online purchases with this visa gift card if you can't register them? Is it also the same with Mastercard gift cards as well? Thanks again.

You can register these.
Most merchants don't require these to be registered in order to work for online purchases.
MC's behave the same.

Are you speaking from experience? These haven't been able to be registered since August or even maybe July because the website is messed up.

Are you just guessing?

Did you actually buy any Visa cards in August and were able to register them? Mine from late Aug can't be registered due to website error.

Also most online merchants require a billing address, not sure what you are talking?

Just tested a random card 2 minutes ago. I was able to register it no problem. Though I do agree there website sucks and sometimes it takes a few tries. Are you on a VPN?

Card was purchased in late July.

You can put in whatever billing address you want and they will work for most retailers. Some check, most don't. Amazon is one example.

Mine was purchased on 8/26, not able to register it, not on VPN.

Does it let you check the balance online?
What merchant isn't allowing you to use it online?
I'd give it a shot with just using your normal billing info.

If you are still having trouble, just PM me with the card number, exp, and cvv and I'll try registering it. (kidding)

He is correct. You cant register physical visa cards online.
I tried two cards and the website errors out.
You can activate them by calling but even then it'll say "your card is activated" yet it'll show as invalid at retailers.

Perhaps it is a batch issue, date purchased issue or something else.

Like I said earlier, I was able to register my physical card (July) earlier tonight. Saying these cards cannot be registered maybe just be an isolated incident.

Personally, if I had a card(s) giving me the issues you are describing, I would try to drain them in a store asap.

The issue is just not being able to use online? Can you use it locally at Aldi or Walmart and if purchase is over $100 can you ask cashier to split $100 on this card and rest on credit card?

There's no issue using it at stores, I only use it to pay utilities online and that requires a billing address.

I would say registering the cards is a lot more important when paying bills. Its too much to compile a list of merchants/payees that require registering the card or not. Personally if I target the VGC/MCGCs that I buy to be used solely for buying things online or paying bills online, I just register the card to be safe since you don't know what the POS system is a stickler for checking something on the card (ex: billing zip code, billing address).

If I know the card will be used for instore purchases online then I don't bother registering the card.
