Seems like a great deal! Is kingston a well known brand like sandisc? Any input would be great! Thinking of using this for extra storage for new iphone15 since it is usb c now.

I have 2 of these. For normal personal use thy are fine, but for video recording and video production data management, they are iffy.

Speeds are 1500MBs+ with a PC USB 3.1 Gen 2 port, but fall off after a little while and get very inconsistent with large or sustained transfers. M1/M2 Macs will only get about 700MBs due to the USB-C bottleneck, but this is for every USB-C drive.

For a USB-C iPhone/iPad these should be just fine.

Thanks for your input. Probably just transfer photos and videos from iphone15 to these. Maybe some games for steamdeck as well.

Is SSD good for long time data storage or should I go with traditional mechanical drive?

It looks like this drive is designed to be more of a game drive. What I mean by that is that it supposedly starts games up quickly but is quite bad when moving large files. It looks like sustained writes are a weak point for this drive. https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...able-ssd/2

How well would this work for increasing storage in a PS5?

Why not just buy a gen 4 SSD instead? It took me five minutes to install. 2280 M.2 are super cheap these days, too.

Useful information if true, but you misidentified the necessary port for anything above 10 Gbps: USB 3.2 Gen 2x2. And the staff OP also failed to identifying this SSD's distinguishing feature.

They've been around forever. I've had ram, USB drives and others, no issues.

Amazon said the estimated delivery date is Oct. 16 with Prime for me. I am living in CA. Does anyone see a similar delivery date? It seems like a long wait...

I'm not very familiar with current generation hardware terms and options (used to be, but time has passed and my knowledge is outdated now). Do you mind being more specific? What exactly is a Gen 4 SSD?
