Got the best buy deal on this. Upgraded the ram to 64GB and added a 2TB SSD (there's two M.2 slots). The laptop is pretty easy to service, just be careful with the snap tabs along the hinges. I also replaced the awful MediaTek wireless card as I was having some bluetooth issues with my 8-bitdo controller. The Intel AX210 works like a charm in this laptop.

Overall I am very happy with this laptop. The screen is decent color gamut (Chi Mei N156KME, 100% SRGB, 96% DCI P3, 85% Adobe.) The thermals aren't bad at all, GPU stays in the low 80s and CPU just barely gets into the 90s while playing Baldur's Gate 3 or Starfield. The 3070Ti is plenty of power, and is a 150w part. Sure it's not as power efficient as the 4070 powered Acer Nitro 16, but at $900ish vs $1200ish (for less SSD at that) it made more sense for me to get this one.

For people that game on the go! We know and expect NOTHING from a battery on a gaming laptop. It's at the bottom of our list in terms of preference. For a solid battery life look at lg gram of apple air

Would you get this or the Lenovo Legion Pro 5i (i7-13700HX+4060+32gbram) deal for $250 more? I would need to get a 32gb kit for the Nitro anyway... For heavy 3D modeling, animation and rendering.

Mine is AN515-46-R7D8 purchased from Best Buy, manufacture date 2023-06-21. It still has the space for the SSD but did not come with a cable for it. I've read that some models do come with the 2.5" drive upgrade cable but am not sure which ones.

The only spot that feels cheap to me is the front right corner of the palmrest (there's an empty space where a 2.5" drive should go). It has a little bit of flex, but I assume it will go away once there is a drive or SSD in the space. The screen doesn't wobble when I type and the hinge feels fine.

It does have a spot for 1 2.5" ssd. But there are not any headers there.

Ebay has a "deal" on refurb laptops. This appears to be the same laptop but $50 cheaper and comes with the 2 year Allstate warranty ($98 value). The only thing I could not verifiy is if the screen refresh rate was also 165hz. The model numbers are also slightly different. AN515-46-R5XN for this deal and AN515-46-R7D8 for the refurb. Various websites seem to indicate they are the same.
