I've had this one for years. Rock solid. If you are used to using a step ladder, it is a bit different. Two steps but no side rails to hold on to.

IMO, aluminum stepladders are much preferred. They are lighter though about double the price, and worth it. Good ones have a higher weight rating too.

Being this close to Black Friday, if there is no urgent need, the Gorilla ladder that Home Depot usually puts on sale as a perennial BF item may be worth the wait.

For roughly the same cost, it's a 3-step, 225lb unit with a "lifetime" warranty. But yet to be seen in how much they'll raise the price this year.

The one I picked up last year in store is the newer version (GLS-3-2) of these two [1 [homedepot.com],2 [homedepot.com]], with the larger metal, steps, not plastic, as the (GLS-3CS) linked in the SD thread. It's a bit larger and heavier than the older plastic version, but I think more robust in construction.

It is better to pick up in store, though, since when they're shipped, it's bare, with no packaging.

IIRC, Lowes also puts up a competing offering as well during BF.

Have a real nice Werner 2 step (Model #AL322-6) with a red release handle and a large top step that I guess they don't make anymore. Was looking for another since we got an ATC converted Sierra 1500 AT4 that has the stock 2" lift but also a 3" body lift for the 14" passenger floor drop for the wheelchair lift. Standing on the ground you basically can't do much under the hood and I'm 5' 11".

This is a nice price but not really up to par for doing anything under the hood of a vehicle. I may just keep the Werner for the truck and get something similar to this for in the house but I will sure miss that larger top step. I would jump on the Kobalt 2 step at Lowe's for in the house but plastic feet really? LOL

This is intended for the lightest use cases, being only rated ANSI type3 and upto 200lb. Still, it will probably be fine for a bit higher weight. I have a rubbermaid rated ANSI type 2 that is supposed to take upto 225lb, but it's been fine bearing 300lb for the past five years.

I didn't notice that before ordering..hopefully that limit is underrated. Otherwise I may have to hit the bathroom then strip off all my clothes before attempting to change any lightbulbs (one bulb at a time of course)
