Quick math assuming you are ok with Visible/Mint at $30/mo - overpaying by $45/mo for 36=$1620, that's what you are paying for the "free iphone".
I have an unlocked phone & pay $20 per month for service. Can't be happier.

anyone else see this?
do they refund it once they get your trade in phone?
UPDATE; I wasn't able to speak to a representative, but through the chat bot it said;
" I see a credit pending on your account. The $38.26 Activation Fee / Service Establishment Fee-Waiver, $22.23 Credit has not been applied yet, but you should see it on your next bill"
I'm not sure exactly what that means as to why would it say $38.26 and $22.23 . It may be that the $22.23 is the monthly credit that I will get when I trade in my phone because when you multiply that by 36 is about $800 which is close to what the trade-in value should be.
And maybe the $38.26 is for the $35 upgrade fee with some taxes that they put on it?

S20 FE 5G available for 177 in Amazon
Costco is showing an increase of $250 / line for new lines! spread out over 36 months, so $6.94/month per line discount + $100GC
The numbers are looking insane for discounts. Especially those with first response qualifications.
I recommend everyone just buy S20s from Amazon fro $160 - keep your iphones if they're 13 and up and sell them.
I'm seeing opportunity to get down to $45/month including all device payments for 4 lines for top tier ATT plan, with Iphone15PM, Iphone15P, 2xIphone15s.
If anyone wants to audit my excel breakdown let me know. I'll paste it.
So about $72 a month for 15 months for phone and unlimited service and your phone is fully paid off 21 months before the ATT plan ends. That's either $7 more or $2 less depending on whether fine print is accurate about minimum $75 line or the $65 will work.
So possibly cheaper even while youre paying off the phone. The you have 21entire months where you can save at minimum $35 a month on your phone bill.
And since you're not tied down you're free to jump from promo deal to promo deal. If you don't use a lot of data away from wifi you can get it more like 15-20 month. Plus you're free to sell or trade in your phone immediately. If you buy it when it's first released you can use it for 16-20 months and still sell it for a lot on eBay or if you're not an apple fan girl get a big trade in promo on a galaxy or pixel pro. You could sale or trade in for the 16 and then 17 and it still work out cheaper than this scam that'll have you waiting for the 18.
I can't believe ppl are committing to 36 months just to feel like they're getting it "free". Unless your credit is awful there are tons of easy to get 0 yearly fee credit cards that offer long 0% apr promos.

agree on the 36 months, I have an iphone xs model with a chipped screen and TIV is $45 or go with the iphone 15 its $350 . I dont care to upgrade or need the latest gen etc but seems like this is the most ill get out of the xs phone. On a family plan of 6 lines and we arent leaving att anytime soon. I think ill go ahead with this deal

My bill is 48 a month including HBO Max, unlimited data on a very good network in the area including 5G and 50gb of hotspot data. I am not switching anyway, there really is no need to.
Then they give you basically a completely free premium phone.
And these are not contracts like before. If you leave after two years you're not losing a fee or something. You lose what you haven't paid off, which is not a massive amount.
The only only downside I see is the locked phone. Some people say you can pay it off early to unlock but there are mixed results.
