The fine print says minimum qualified plan is 75/mo. That's where they get you with these "free deals" - locking you in at high monthly rate for 3 yrs.

Quick math assuming you are ok with Visible/Mint at $30/mo - overpaying by $45/mo for 36=$1620, that's what you are paying for the "free iphone".
If you live in an area which has good coverage then better buy an unlocked phone and get a carrier of your choice than getting robbed by these guys for 36 months.
I have an unlocked phone & pay $20 per month for service. Can't be happier.
What is activation fee anymore ,!! Just another fee from older times

Gotcha. So I would first sign up for the regular price. Then go ahead and do the verification?

Do you need if the account needs to be under the same name. For example, if fiber is under my name but the wireless can be under my brothers name (to qualify for the first responder/tecehr discount)
That I'm unsure of. If you're combining services I would assume they have to be under the main account holder. I would call them first but you can get 25% wireless discount whenever I think.

make sure you sign up with a debit card for your Att autopay billing. Starting in October, you will lose the autopay discount per line if you have credit card on file.
I think the discount will go from $10 to $5 and not gone all together.

I couldn't take advantage of this deal (no eligible trade in device) but did get the following offered:

$15/mo iPhone 14 Pro

$100 Costco GC
$250 Statement Credits (porting in a line, would only be $100 for adding a new line)

geez, for the free phone it's 36 months of bill credits. When we got our iPhone 13 it was 30 months.
It was the same when we got our 11. But honestly, we kept the 11 for longer than the credits anyway lol. Upgraded the family to 15's. Will be nice to have all devices on the same charging standard.

Maybe a better bundled gift card. The 36 month deal will likely remain the same. Downturns they'll change things up like "free air pods". Just sort of depends.

If you're in the market for a new phone, imo this is a stellar value. Went with Best Buy only because total tech subscription meant it included AppleCare on all our devices. If I didn't have that, I'd have gone with Costco today.

I have similar grips, but we pay $120 for five lines with a business discount. Throwing in five free phones this year translates to the best. Value I could get anywhere. If I absolutely need to roam, I have an old Samsung I can throw a pay as you go sim into; I'd likely just get google fi for the trip. ATT covers Mexico and Canada though, so it's really overseas that effects me. For those that travel frequently, I can see that being a deal breaker.

It's an insult to SD to promote this as a deal
I couldn't disagree more. You're getting a $100 gift card on a phone that launched TODAY and taking advantage of the carrier's free over 36 months deal. Afaik nobody else is offering this.

Just to be complete, the Visible/Mint equation does not include the phone. The ATT $75/mo include the new Iphone. If buy the phone for $1200 direct from Apple, you would save $420 ($1620-1200). Probably less since Costco is giving you back $150 - $200.

Used to be 12 months, 24 months now 36 months for bill credits? What's next 48 months ?
It hasn't been under 30 months since at least the iPhone 11. They're likely looking at the frequency most upgrade and are going from there. They'll still let you do the "new every two" for $6 a month if it's worth it to you.

T-Mobile still has 24 month
They do, but you have to be on their most expensive plan. That translates to laying much more over the two years. My T-Mobile bill would be $200 versus ATT $130 for five lines (discounts included on both). We were fully expecting to move to T-Mobile this year because I didn't think ATT would do trades on an 11. Saving $80 translates to almost $2000 over that two year span. Huge.

I'd like to but I don't think the 15 is a huge upgrade from the 12. Makes me nervous that the 2 after this will be a big change and I regret getting the 15.

yup. only suckers are doing these major-carrier subsidized phones by now. As evidenced by lottery ticket sales, there is still a huge population of people who are bad at math
Not necessarily. Single line carrier plans are always the most expensive. You could be doing five lines for $150 (cheaper with a corporate discount) and still get the deal. We have 5 likes at $120 with discount. That's less than $25 a line with unlimited data. I can't complain.
