About this Product:
  • Contains 1 Troy Ounce of .9999 fine gold.

Veriscan is available as a creative and convenient mobile app, or as a PC software system for use with a traditional document scanner and the PAMP bullion-positioning frame.

You buy it, hide it, and then pay more money every year for your homeowners policy to cover it

That's kind of how it works. The retailer can't lose money. This is barely over spot, which is currently $1,927, and they ship it to you overnight UPS.

$42.99 over spot and you get 2% with executive membership and 2% back on the credit card actually does bring the price below spot, which is unheard of. Find another oz of gold for $43 over spot (especially with credit card method of payment), tough to do. Typically $70-$80 over for wire/check.

For a Pamp, I can't imagine how anyone can get a better deal anywhere at any time for this. If you are in the market for gold....where can you find a better deal?
Keep in mind, this is a very well recognized "brand" of gold, too...not a generic ounce (even then, you'll struggle to find this kind of deal).
If you can find something close to this price, try to buy it with the convenience of a credit card for that price.
Then, see if you can get it delivered in a few days!
Where else other than Costco could I be buying a Pamp, this easily, at this price, with these rewards, at this time of year in my kitchen?

It's still a little better than the exchanges, but the "deal" keeps getting worse and worse. But it's quickly becoming a thing to grab because you always wanted one, and less and less something to see as an "investment".
Agree with you. At 1900 and 1930 this was a good deal.

This becoming too expensive especially at $50 over spot.

Nickle and dime concerns aren't quite the "thing" with this kind of investment. If our worrisome paper money starts taking a (expected) dump, then concerns over $50 will be laughable compared to the potential of gold.
Even for those that paid $400 for gold, the real "event" has not yet happened. If the "event" does not happen, then that is even BETTER news! i.e. it means society is marching along nicely and the dollar has maintained it's value.

Finally...someone in here with common sense. Thank you.

Still a very good price over spot --- other retailers charge 70-100$ over spot price....

Don't hide it. More fun to look at than bank statements.

Is there an additional sales tax to the cost as well?
In California if you buy 1 there will
He sales tax

Anything over 2000 no sales tax

That's why I just buy 2

You could say this about anything you buy with your executive card. Doesn't make everything you buy a "deal". Certainly not a "slick" one worth posting everytime it comes available
Absolutely worth posting every time since it is a significantly better price than you will find from any other legitimate company. Is that not what slickdeals is for?

You're better off with putting money into a 401k or medium risk ETF. Ounce of gold is currently $1908. In 2011 it hit $2192. No dividends or interest on the gold hidden in your house either.

So, where can you sell this later if the need arises? Can you recoup the money and would you be able to sell it without hassle at the future spot rate?

Nothing about intrinsic value or privacy or digital footprints or being allowed to liquidate in virtually any country?

May be both? It's not one versus other. It's called diversification.
