Also, this part of the promo "and through the date your redemption request is processed", gives me pause. Does this mean I have to wait until I know my $500 redemption has been processed which could be longer than the 90 days?

If you order the phone from Apple now, you won't get it until mid Oct. so it really just an extra month delay.
