These go on sale regularly. I'd wait for a deal on a new unit and grab an extended warranty. Great unit but my first one was shot after a year.
I rarely have issues with mechanical products- combination of luck and taking care of what I have. But two of these Midea
UShaped ac units failed. This combined with woot - I give it a thumbs down. I hope fellow slickdealers listen.
That being said- the 10 year $99 AC units won't quit-
Refurbished. New ones were cheaper if you can find one or wait.

12000 BTU were 289 at Costco. Selected locations.

8000 BTU were 249 at both Home Depot & Amazon a week ago. Price may drop later again.

I'm curious to see how you get any type of ac to fit in a casement window
Only thing I've been able to do is use a portable AC and cut a custom piece of plexiglass to insert in the opening and the run the hose(s) to a hole in the plexiglass. Sorry should have specific that they were window mount ACs.

I vaguely remember I purchased an unit from Aldi more than 10 years ago for less than that. The window AC units have seriously come up in price since.

New AC freon standards!

Can these be left in the window for the winter time? Or should this be taken out during summer?

Just dreaming of the day when window heat pumps with AC and heat exist… Unless they do and I don't know about them. And no, I'm not interested in a mini split.

Refurbished is a nicer way of saying used garbage.

Refurbished unfortunately might be missing some of the installation supplies like foam and brackets.

Tempting to get with the Amazon 3 yr warranty for another $69 but trying to heed the warnings.

Side note: I ordered a NEW Echo Auto from Woot, Ist Gen on clearance for $9.99. It came with not only the security tape cut, but hair stuck to it. Also, found more single hairs in the box stuck to parts of the unit. Gross. Of course, I called, they had none left, but did refund my money and told me to get rid of it.
We have two of these already, one purchased last year and one of Costco deal instore few months ago. Haven't really faced any issues with both & they are pretty good compared to other window units.

I bought an 8k for a 25x25 game room (a lot of narrow windows) with 3 exterior walls and it was totally fine all summer in mid TN. As that is where most time is spent I used the central HVAC way less and my electric bills were half what they were last year.

I've been using 3 of them. 8k, 10k, 12k. for the past three years, still working fine. I recommend them, but probably not at this price. Get them on sale new.

As a counter anecdote, I've had one for 4years, it survived 3 chcago winters (I left it mounted year round) and a cross-country move, still works like new and is very quiet.

Be mindful of widow width requirements

"Available for single-hung or double hung window with size: 22 - 36 inches, minimal height at 13.75 inches."

I bought at Sam's couple years ago and have 48" window. The way the bracket is you better have a window 36" or less. It wasn't worth trying to modify some way to make it work. Returned because of that.

Got the 12k from costco for $400. This thing is weak. I don't care how much energy it saves, but if it can't keep my unit cool, what's the point?
I know my unit is not the best insulated that's why I got the 12k. It will work well for small rooms with proper insulation. If you guys read the reviews, many of them claimed it doesn't cool well compare to their older ACs. And this thing leaks through the window.
I agree. I have this 12k unit and it cools a small room, but not as good as a non inverter unit.
