These go on sale regularly. I'd wait for a deal on a new unit and grab an extended warranty. Great unit but my first one was shot after a year.
I rarely have issues with mechanical products- combination of luck and taking care of what I have. But two of these Midea
UShaped ac units failed. This combined with woot - I give it a thumbs down. I hope fellow slickdealers listen.
That being said- the 10 year $99 AC units won't quit-
Refurbished. New ones were cheaper if you can find one or wait.

12000 BTU were 289 at Costco. Selected locations.

8000 BTU were 249 at both Home Depot & Amazon a week ago. Price may drop later again.

Be mindful of widow width requirements

"Available for single-hung or double hung window with size: 22 - 36 inches, minimal height at 13.75 inches."

I bought at Sam's couple years ago and have 48" window. The way the bracket is you better have a window 36" or less. It wasn't worth trying to modify some way to make it work. Returned because of that.

Disappointing. I have a 6000 LG that I swear must be 10 years old. Of course, I clean it out completely every season before storing it away. It has some decent eco features like turning fans off etc between cooling.

I was somewhat interested in one of these Midea types, but not if any savings is wiped out by units which don't last.

Can these be left in the window for the winter time? Or should this be taken out during summer?
If you leave a window AC in year round and never remove it, you're going to end up with a bunch of nasty build up inside of it.

Got the 12k from costco for $400. This thing is weak. I don't care how much energy it saves, but if it can't keep my unit cool, what's the point?
I know my unit is not the best insulated that's why I got the 12k. It will work well for small rooms with proper insulation. If you guys read the reviews, many of them claimed it doesn't cool well compare to their older ACs. And this thing leaks through the window.
You must have the unit tilted up too high, tilt it back some and it will drain outside

Indeed, but for whatever reason heat almost triples the price

I've ordered a total of five of these in the past. Two for myself, and three for some family that have me order things for them. Some were new, others were "warehouse" (returns, but they were often brand new and unused with just opened boxes. The cords were still wrapped and all). One gave me error codes for a coolant leak and refused to run. Luckily it was just barely within the warranty window. I had a check from Midea for the full purchase price within two weeks.

Just wrap it in a heavy duty leaf bag and it will be fine.

love this A/C

hate the remote and the front panel electronics and wonder how long they will last

there is also no way to clean the blower fan inside unless you are willing to spend hours taking it apart

I bought the 8K uit from Amazon and got it installed. This will only fit a window with width 36" due to the included bracket, did not realize when bought. I ended up installing it in different (bedroom with smaller window).

I have 5 of these.. they are incredible. The customer service, not so much. I had one crap out after a year and it was a major headache.. I have measured the power consumption to be on par with the claims. the 12k cools large space here just fine. They are so quiet you will laugh when it runs. I do not regret the purchases. Every single one I have bought that was a "refurb" arrive badly damaged.. like dropped out of a window damaged. This is the same deal walmart had awhile back. The last one I bought new was about 300 at costco. You HAVE to tip them towards the outside, the fan picks up the water to cool the radiator fins.

Did you read the instructions to tilt the unit slightly angled towards outside so the water runs that way? Honestly I think a lot of people's problems with appliances are user errors…

All these AC units on sale seem to be made for double-hung windows. They really need to make more window AC units for slider windows, millions of people have them.
Yeah. I hope they make something for slider windows as well.

But the major issue maybe that the blinds can't be closed after a window ac is installed.
