This is becoming so prevalent and widespread that I believe it won't be long before Samsung revamps their trade in policy subsequently addressing this issue and effing it up for the rest of us..
S23 ultra 256GB has 8GB ram.
S23 ultra 512GbB has 12GB ram.
His earlier trade in (without the ram upgrade) downsized ram. This deal matches ram with bigger storage. Honestly, I think this deal is great for someone who has s22 ultra 128gb. Mine is s22 ultra 256gb so I am still on the fence, considering mine still runs like new, look like new and there is no much difference between 22/23.

I have a previous order that I'll return, and buy this again. If I already opened and am using the Bud2 Pro from the previous order, can I just return the unopened one from the new order, using the previous order number? Or, does Samsung insist on returning the item with the serial number that matches the one on each order?

I bit the bullet as my wife's s22u had a small scratch on the screen (some keys in her purse probably scratched it by accident). It's not visible most times but annoying when you see it.
