This is becoming so prevalent and widespread that I believe it won't be long before Samsung revamps their trade in policy subsequently addressing this issue and effing it up for the rest of us..
S23 ultra 256GB has 8GB ram.
S23 ultra 512GbB has 12GB ram.
His earlier trade in (without the ram upgrade) downsized ram. This deal matches ram with bigger storage. Honestly, I think this deal is great for someone who has s22 ultra 128gb. Mine is s22 ultra 256gb so I am still on the fence, considering mine still runs like new, look like new and there is no much difference between 22/23.

On #4 -- Let's say you pay $300 out of pocket to buy S23U now, the trade-in difference between S22U and S23U when S24 is out will be more than $300? Is that what you are saying?
I buy strictly from the Samsung and hold out until I find great trade-in deals. The most I've paid for a phone in years is $600 and a trade-in for my Fold 4. I've gotten free or heavily-discounted buds. I paid like $87 for my Watch5 Pro and free Buds2 Pro and the only thing I had to trade in was my S22 Ultra for the 23 Ultra.
A phone is a very personal device and there's nothing wrong with upgrading it if and when you want to.

Going Victus+ to Victus 2 .. eh majority of the time we put screen protector anyways nothing biggy.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 .. You might not think its a big deal but it goes from Samsung process to TSMC process, and we all know Samsung process sucks so we get a decent performance boost, less heat etc... CPU configuration definitely boosted for performance... Latest Adreno 740 for the gamers out there and again less heat.
UFS 3.1 to UFS 4.0... sure not NVME speeds like the iPhones but a big up in drive speeds!
RAM upgrade not bad either LPDDR5 3200MHz to LPDDR5X 4200MHz support, less power with more bandwidth/speed. If you're going from 8GB to 12GB its nice to have.
Bluetooth 5.2 to 5.3 etc...
TL;DR, is it worth it to upgrade? it depends on the person, if I'm on my phone a lot, play games, it feels more of an improvement from S22U -> S23U than it was for S21U -> S22U.. at least for me, even with VRR the S22U ran hotter and almost the same battery life. With S23U using Light Profile I'm getting an additional 1-2+ hours on my phone so I'm not sure how much of importance that is to a person. Unfortunately not all places are the same, where I live it will cost $304 to upgrade where as people living in higher taxed area have to pay +$100 which is a bit much so probably not worth it at that point. To others its a new battery, new warranty, faster phone, heats up less, lasts longer.
Question is:
In 5 months S24U is coming out so will S23U fair a better trade in price over S22U?
Will there be more deals closer to Black Firday/Christmas?
