Comparing the 8.5" plates that I use to the Amazon price, Corelle's website with the 50% off is still more expensive and I'd still have to pay for shipping.
Amazon's price: $20.54 (6x pack)
Corelle's price: $21.00 (6x plates) + 6.99 shipping
I got a couple of their divider plates at Walmart yesterday cheaper than this sale due to the shipping. Only about $0.60 cheaper per plate with this deal before shipping.
I noticed the Corelle stores in all the Outlet Malls around me went out of business in the last year or two.
So I tried the white IKEA stuff instead. So far, so good.
Good timing! Moving at the end of the month and have to start from square one. These are a bunch of essentials I was gonna have to buy. Saved me some money, thanks!
I had vintage Corelle plates and bowls. They were over 40 years old and still in great condition.
When I got married we got much "nicer" plates from Crate & Barrel.. and a bunch of them are already chipped after 5 years.
My Mom had a set of Corelle plates (with the little hearts around the edges) from the 80s until last year when I got her a new set of the regular-style white ones. Just about 40 years for hers too, she had broken one and a couple had some minor nicks and chips and most of the glazed hearts had worn off a good amount but boy did she get her money's worth haha.
We were gifted 2x sets of Urban Arc at our wedding in 2015 and I bought a 3rd set a couple years ago to take us up to 12x of everything. My wife likes the square designs (they play so well in the dishwasher) and I can attest to the durability of these things as the cargo ship I work on also has been using these for a few years with only minimal losses (just a few from being launched in typhoon season haha). Highly recommend them for the money! Cambridge 18/10 Stainless flatware also an excellent long term investment to with these.
At a point in my travels that prefer to spend a little bit more to not have to keep replacing everything so often - Think it works out cheaper in the long run that way honestly.
Do these get piping hot from the microwave? I had a bad experience with a set that was "microwave safe" but had this characteristic.
None of my Corelle heats up directly in the microwave. It does conduct heat well, so be aware that it'll be piping hot wherever in direct contact with the food, but the exposed edges are easily handled after microwaving.
Melamine, on the hand, boy howdy! Those molecules are more in tune with the microwave wavelengths than water.
One thing I hate about Corelle is when you drop them, they shatter into tiny shards of glass.
When they shatter, yes. But the great thing with Corelle is how often it survives scot-free from drops, even on ceramic tile. Mind you, don't drop it. It's not indestructible. But compared to everything else, it sure does come close!

I use the small dessert bowls to feed my cats. They're very good till they break. Mine would not survive a drop to the floor. The last one shattered when it slipped from sink to counter.

This isn't just Corelle -- it appears to be all the brands on this website -- Pyrex, Corning, etc. And it looks like you can mix and match **between* brands as well. Pick out three Pyrex, three Corelle, or whatever, and hit the savings!

We inherited vintage Corelle that probably lasted 30 years. Sadly the Corelle replacements only lasted about four years before they started "shedding" around the edges. They became dangerous to handle.

Did Corelle increase the prices for this sale?

My Corelle glass plates get warm in the microwave but not super hot.
