Comparing this with iPad is the worst analogy here. Kindle is not iPad. They don't get lots of new features in a new generation, the price is very stable, and they last for years. People are happy to spend money on a 5-year device and use it for a few more years. In fact, the latest Oasis was released in 2019, so this is only the "previous generation".

First, that is not true, Scribe is definitely faster than older models. Second, it does not matter. Virtually nobody gets a new kindle because it is "faster".
(I have been a Kindle user since 2011.)
At this point, I can heat my home with all the electronics I've bought from posts on slickdeals

Comparing this with iPad is the worst analogy here. Kindle is not iPad. They don't get lots of new features in a new generation, the price is very stable, and they last for years. People are happy to spend money on a 5-year device and use it for a few more years. In fact, the latest Oasis was released in 2019, so this is only the "previous generation".

Winter's coming, and the ability to wear gloves in-doors while still being able to turn the pages without constantly fighting the device's touchscreen is reason enough to consider getting one.

I have maybe 1,000 PDF manuals on PC, sorted in folders/subfolders by Manufacturer and Model, and wondering if this would work as a convenient "portable service manual binder". Thoughts?
