the review they just posted here shows the problem of LENOVO motherboards and it's high GPU temps

also dude, there's an exact same 2TB SDD that you picked for $63, $3 less than your 1TB one
that's shody PCPARTPICKER list
I guess I wanted to just point out that the motherboard isn't a custom form factor that other prebuilt PCs commonly have. I agree with you that a Lenovo motherboard is a weakness of this PC. I just decided I was willing to accept that due to the overall cost of the PC.

Fair point on the SSD, I tried to keep it as close to a 1:1 as possible so I didn't even look at 2tb drives. I primarily made the list to get a ball park of what it would cost to build my own. So as a rough estimate on the value of this PC I think the PCPP list and total cost is relevant.

It is a Lenovo motherboard but it is also a standard ATX design.

I tried to make the closest apples to apples comparison with PCPP and selected the cheapest components. This prebuilt is still cheaper (not by much if you exclude the OS, although I did leave fans out so there's a few bucks more that would be required if you are doing a complete build):

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tz2HBL

With this you get a single device to return/RMA if something fails as opposed to sending individual parts back. I felt the trade off with the proprietary MB and GPU was worth it... Just my opinion/rationalization of my own purchase.
Great work! I'm going to disagree with you though. $220 is not enough for me to ignore the proprietary BIOS. I learned my lesson the hard way when I had an HP. I couldn't upgrade to a better video card because of the BIOS. Because it was unicorn, there were no updates for it and I couldn't upgrade my HP. I guess this would be a good deal for someone who doesn't ever want to upgrade their PC

If you didn't get the 2TB/64gb. Anyone know if you can add your own RAM and SSD later?

Yes there are open m.2 for adding nvme drives as well as a couple 2.5" SSD slots for adding sata drives. Another YouTuber added in RGB ram successfully.

(Major correction...)

The cash back terms for the 10% site say "Cash Back is not available on Lenovo Corporate Employee Purchase Programs (ex: Perks at Work, Beneplace, or any corporate discount store affinity site) and...."

I thought I used the coupon code BENGEXTRA6 from this thread, but now see I used (because of a link I clicked) a different one which was a Perks at Works code. So, I have no idea if the BENEXTRA6 code is excluded.

Can anyone who placed an order using the BENGEXTRA6 code tell us what "store" the order is listed as being from on the Lenovo list of orders you placed?

Isn't there a restocking fee?
There is not, unless you're legitimately one of the "in for 5" guys and then return.

"Unless Lenovo ships the wrong product(s) or makes an error in the configuration of the product(s) ordered, returns of 1) server and storage products; 2) orders for personal computing products in quantities greater than five (5) units and 3) Product(s) submitted outside the allotted calendar days from the date of invoice are subject to a restocking fee of 15% of the price paid and return shipping and handling fees."

Yes, I did already start the RMA process with them. It was very easy through the live chat. No issues and no mention of a restock fee.

I clipped this from Lenovo's return policy page, "Unless Lenovo ships the wrong product(s) or makes an error in the configuration of the product(s) ordered, returns of 1) server and storage products; 2) orders for personal computing products in quantities greater than five (5) units and 3) Product(s) submitted outside the allotted calendar days from the date of invoice are subject to a restocking fee of 15% of the price paid and return shipping and handling fees."

None of the 3 scenarios above apply to me, so I don't have to pay the restocking fee.

Are you in another country? This is what it says on the US page from the site that you order from

Lenovo will accept the return or exchange of a hardware product in its original package for a full refund if Lenovo shipped you the wrong product or makes an error in the configuration of the product ordered. Returns allowed for any other reason will be subject to a restocking fee equal to 15% of the purchase price plus return shipping and handling fees

People on reddit said they got charged a restocking fee for returning 1 laptop or computer. Hopefully you don't get a surprise

That's not what it says for me, and yes I'm in the US.

"We are happy to process returns free of shipping or restocking fees from the date of the invoice as follows: Lenovo.com – 30 calendar days."

Where are you seeing what you posted? That's odd because that is a totally different policy.
