This is a small travel router that connects to an ethernet port of an existing network, OR can be connected to an existing Wi-Fi network and used to create your own personal Wi-Fi network but this router uses a VPN to mask your traffic when used.
It can also be used on Visible to share a phone connection with multiple devices but you will be required to use a TTL hack to make it work.
1. Connect phone/laptop to captive login wifi.
2. Connect GL.iNet to power
3. Log in to GL.iNet web interace
4. Change GL.iNet router MAC address to the same as that of your phone/laptop.
5. Connect GL.Inet to hotel WiFi, and it'll work.
Side note, I have this and it works great, the VPN works well too.

1. The Web GUI is usually fairly simple to use and navigate
2. Being able to (before your trip) plug in the device and connect all your items to it ahead of time is such a game changer.
3. Cloning MAC Address is usually fairly straight forward since there is no way to login to various wifi web UI pages for login
4. Most of these smaller devices are USB (YMMV regarding the next part) What we did on a family vacation is brought our older one (i have 5 siblings with kids) and brought a 20k MAH portable charger, we then connect the router to someone's mobile hotspot and shared wifi with the whole group on the go! it was amazing, ipads tablets laptops etc all getting internet for youtube etc was great!
5. everyones use case will be different but i just welcomed my first child and we are going on a trip, i want to make sure our Miku (baby monitor) works flawlessly so when there is a nanny watching the kiddo we can feel safe knowing we can keep eyes on her. I do also like to bring my chromecast as hotel tv offerings are usually crap or have costs for some things.
With this, we'd be able to just have one account tied to the router and then me and two family members can connect to the router and not have to pay for separate wifi accounts.
I assumed people talking about using it for cruises are in the same boat.

Firmware for it is fully updated.
What I did for the captive portal was.
1.turned on router.
2 connected to it with my laptop
3 opened thje router admin webpage.
4 Connected to the hotel wifi from the router using the webage.
5 The captive portal should either open automatically on your laptop/device web browser or open a new tab.
That was it. I made sure the vpn was off before I did all that and did not turn it on until I was able to log in into the captive portal.
Mind you, you might have to do this every day unless the hotel gives you an option to pay for the "fast" connection with multiple days.
No router is crappy like this...
it is only suitable for random occasional use.
normally when it used after an hour, the fan starts running, with the CPU temperature increasing, the fan speed increases , also its noisy. the MT1300 is not a comparable device. This Beryl AX has 2.5Gb ethernet port which is its sale point , but it generates most heat from there, even most people never uses that. MT1300 is cheaper and quieter , low power consumption, and much pratical than Beryl AX AX3000
