Great packaging,
Drives get stamp/marked Recertified , also gets a new label to what appeared to be from Seagate .
SMART data gets zero out..

They are louder than traditional drives.. worth the buy.. $10.50/ TB

Satisfaction Guarantee: Return for refund within 30 days of package reception date.

SO test the drive as soon as you get it..

I used the Seagate software that creates a bootable VM (tinycore) with the SeaTools GUI : Link

without model number, start of usage time, length of usage, type of usage, your story has no usable meaning.

Gooood luck with a brand new Seagate drive.... Refurb? Hope you have a backup plan.
I've got 140tb raw in these drives and no regrets. Everyone should have a backup plan regardless of your drive choice.

This is for RAID solutions, not main drive. Stay far far away if you are archiving without RAID.

I dealt with the extra noise by wrapping the drive with a sock. It's been fine so far but PC gamepass app doesn't like installing on this drive for some reason. It has some kind of issue with weird permissions.

I can vouch for ServerPartDeals, they're great. I just got four recertified 18TB WD HC550s a few weeks ago and they're all great.

Always have a backup plan Smilie

FWIW I've been running 12 of the 14TB models in my garage (105 - 32°F swing) for two years now with zero errors let alone drive failures. Maybe I'm lucky, maybe they're fine.
You just jinxed yourself

Are you recording clips or 24/7? If its just clips get a cheap HDD drive.

If its 24/7 you can either get a WD Purple, seagate and Crucial have drives designed for constant writes.

The best way to figure out your drive size needs, is to calculate how long it will take to fill up the drive and overwrite it with new recordings. For example, my 4x 4tb drives with 6 cameras 24/7 recording takes 35 days to fill up before overwriting.

Another more expensive used option for SSD is the Intel s4510 (which has 10 Petabytes of writes) that is designed to have 2500 overwrites for each drive. For my example above, this would take 250 years before drives start to fail. Of course they would never last that long but you get the idea. I buy used drives...i dont care if it only lasts 10 years. Thats all I need because by them I most likely will already have twice as many cameras or more and have bigger drives.

They do. And they work great. I just wouldn't personally opt for a refurb on this.
