Is it better/worse/on par with LG C3?
G3 (but not C3) has new MLA tech to compete with QD-OLED.

C3 scored the same as S90C at rtings, but it doesn't have MLA tech so it won't get as bright.

Excellenr price. I have the 77" S95C and it's one of the best OLEDs I have owned. Exceptional for movies and gaming.

If you watch a lot of 480p720p content then steer towards Sony (Not LG). But if you consume only 1080p/4K (or have a 4k player that does upscaling to 4K) this one is hard to beat.

Not having DV is not an issue. I can go into many reasons why even having DV is a moot point since there are so many variables in color, brightness, contrast, shadow detail at play that people focus on DV more than the other things that actually matter and make for a good picture.
Not having DV certainly is an issue. On OLEDs, regular HDR10 is very noticeably inferior to Dolby Vision or HDR10+. Unfortunately for Samsung, there is a ton more DV content out there than HDR10+ and this gap is likely to widen going forward.

How's the build quality on these? Weren't there a lot of folks complaining about failures and green screens?
I bought an s95b on the Samsung EPP deal and cancelled before delivery because of some of the complaints. If you really want this TV, get it from costco for the added protection.

Worse. This is a qd oled which can get brighter than a woled (C3) but the Samsung only has blue red and green pixels so all three have to be on to display a white screen making it way more prone to burn in then the lg oleds since they have a white sub pixel on top of the red green and blue sub pixels. So if you were worried about burn in with the lg and Sony oleds you'll be terrified with the qd oleds.

Is that good or bad?
Be aware that some newly manufactured s90c 55 and 65 models are coming with gen2 panels like on the s95c.

My 55 costco version is a gen 2 panel. Also the costco versions have 60 watt speakers instead of 40 for some reason (for the 55).

It's not. I have seen them side by side. Again you're missing the point I made. You'll never get it and don't realize how much superior this TV is in rendering color than most OLEDs out there that not having DV doesn't render it inferior. The differences are so subtle that unless you watch them side by side you won't even notice what the difference is. And 99.99% of people do not calibrate their TVs or settings either, so again, the DV argument is useless.
The difference is not that big and many YouTube TV reviewers and magazines have picked this as their TV of the year over the LG G3. QD-OLED Gen 2 just pushes colors and brightness better than G3 MLA-OLED does.

I think gen 2 is only on the 77" for S90C and S95C. This is what every reviewer has said. I checked at least a dozen reviews before pulling the trigger on mine.

My s95b 55 died and I have a s90c 55 from Costco and the panel is definitely gen2. It doesn't have the heavy magenta tint from reflections when it is off.

Note that s90c at this size is just a repackaged s95b. The 77" s90c is the real steal because it's very similar to the s95c
Good point. Hard to tell if you're getting a second generation panel. It was easier to tell when evo panels were involved.

He does have a point, technically DV/HDR+ is superior to static HDR.
There is a lot more DV content than HDR+.

Whether it's "much superior" over "most OLEDs" is kinda a stretch IMO.
Here is a comparison of this and just the C3, doesn't paint to same picture.

I agree with you, most make the mistake of not calibrating their display.
Which two displays did you compare side by side and were they both calibrated?

Let's not forget this all starts with the quality of the content and how well HDR is tone mapped.

That's the anti-glare coating. They changed that for this year.

One of the things Samsung did with this generation of their panels is they calibrated the colors to be more in line with how Sony renders them. Whatever issues folks had with their skin tones and color last year, are vastly improved. LG has a strong green tint pushed in all their panels. Look at the rtings screenshots. You can see LG has a greenish tint in all the images and this something that can't be fixed even after calibration. Again the DV argument is pointless as you have a strong green tint in the image so can the image be considered accurate at all? Especially since Sony has DV but looks different vs LG as LG has the green tint?

I was watching Stop The FOMO on YouTube and he had all three S95C, Sony A95L and LG G3 on comparison and Samsung has tuned their colors more in line with Sony yet LG still stood out with the green tint. So having DV doesn't fix that nor can you say that image is how it should look like.

Then you have brightness. DV has higher brightness than HDR but S95C gets brighter than the LG.

Samsung can go brighter without colors getting washed out.

My point is having DV doesn't mean it's the more accurate image or the better looking one when the TV/panel itself has shortcomings.

Sony A95L might be the best TV when it comes out but it is $5000 for a 77". Will have to wait and see for reviews. Especially how it handles bright scenes and objects. Sony has somewhat of an agressive ABL.

Ahhh... Samsung fanbois and their hot takes on Dolby Vision, lol. Don't bother trying to convince them.

Sony falls under the "most OLEDs", hence why I said it was a stretch.
Even in that comparison with the C3 they said "slightly better overall TV" not "much superior".

All a display does is process(render) what it's given.
Calibration just sets the display to a standard with no ambient light present.
Some will do it to their room environment or preference.

All forms of HDR are just enhancements to content.
Brightness is often touted as a main benefit to them.

Both versions(static, dynamic) need to be tone mapped for us to see it.
How thats done plays a significant role.

As you can see there are many factors that influence PQ before anyone can proclaim one better let alone "much superior" for everyone.
If you meant "much superior" TO YOU, no one can debate that.
